Anchor of the Soul from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. When people lose hope, they lie down and die. They lose the will to live and fight any longer. Hopelessness is utter despair, the belief that nothing good will happen. When you begin to think like this, it will bring a desire to die. A ...

The Pharisees and the scribes asked him, "Why don't your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?" He answered them, "Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honors me with their lips, But their heart is far f...

Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me; declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done; saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure; Isaiah 46:9'10 WEB.During a sci-fi n...

Your Purpose And Mine

  • They were all astonished at the majesty of God. But while all were marveling at all the things which Jesus did, he said to his disciples, "Let these words sink into your ears, for the Son of Man will be delivered up into the hands of men." But they didn't understand this saying. It was concealed from them, that they should not perceive it. Luke 9:43'45 WEB.

Jesus told His disciples, "Let these words sink into your ears: The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men." Yet, they didn't understand it. Even though this was a very clear statement, they were convinced that Jesus was going to be the next king of Israel. They believed the Messiah had come to deliver Israel from the Roman occupiers.

The disciples were filled with wonder because of the miracles Jesus had been doing. Yet, they were completely blind to what was soon coming. They were sincere but sincerely wrong. Instead of becoming a king on Earth, Jesus was handed over to the Romans and crucified. He died and then was resurrected on the third day. Instead of Israel being delivered from the Romans, they destroyed it in 70 A.D., and Israel ceased to be a nation until 1948. The disciples didn't understand what was coming, but it worked out anyway, for God took care of the details.

I had so many questions when I began seeking the Lord earnestly and studying the Bible in-depth. I concentrated most of my Bible study on the books of Revelation, Daniel, and Matthew chapter 24. I was confused about so many things, the rapture, pre-tribulation, mid-tribulation, post-tribulation, and the millennium. My walls were covered with charts and timelines as I tried to work it all out. My room began to look like a scene from the movie "A Beautiful Mind."

One Sunday morning, when I was around twenty years old, the Lord spoke to me through a visiting speaker from Texas whom I had never met. He called me up in front of the church and told me a lot of things. One was that I would be a teacher of the Word of God and be in ministry one day.

I knew that it was God speaking through him, for he had deep insight into my life. He even knew the books of the Bible that I had been reading in private. I could feel the presence of the Lord as he spoke, and I was burning and tingling all over. Then he told me this:

"Son, you don't need all of the things to fit. Just allow your purpose and Mine to knit. And don't be so concerned about the end of the book. Yea, go back to the beginning and take another look."

That word from Him changed my outlook, my focus, and my life became much more simple. Now I tend to my daily tasks, and I let Him worry about the things beyond my control. I don't have to understand everything coming or have all of the answers, for He does. I am just His servant here. He is the General, and I try and follow His orders for today. That is enough.

Today, you don't have to worry about how all of this fits together or how it will work out. You don't have to understand everything right now. Just let your purpose align with God today and let Him take care of the details. He has a better view from up there than we do down here. If it matters, He will tell you. We have a job to do while we are here, so let us focus on that.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I turn my worries over to You, for they are too much for me. There are so many things that are beyond my control. Please step into my life and help me bring things into balance. Help me complete my simple tasks today and to let the rest go. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!

Note: 'Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God.' (Philippians 4:6-7) ~ If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network
