If you died with Christ from the elements of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to ordinances, "Don't handle, nor taste, nor touch" (all of which perish with use), according to the precepts and doctrines of men? These things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imp...

An extraordinary event unfolds in Matthew chapter 14, one that is unparalleled elsewhere in the Bible: a common fisherman defying the laws of nature by walking on water. The Opposing Wind

  • He said, Come! Peter stepped down from the boat, and walked on the waters to come to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, Lord, save me! Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, You of little faith, why did you doubt? Matthew 14:29 WEB

As the wind blew stronger, fear came upon Peter and he began to panic. The water beneath his feet started to soften and he began to sink into the sea. Before this moment, Peter had cheerfully been walking across the top of the water, leaving all the others behind in the boat. Now sinking in panic he cried, "Lord, save me!", and Jesus reached out and caught him. Jesus then asked Peter one thing: "Why did you doubt?"

Peter had stepped out in faith to come to the Lord Jesus, and it was all working just the way that it should. But of course, when on the edge of a major breakthrough, a life changing event, the wind began to blow furiously in opposition to him, and his faith wavered. He began to doubt that the Lord wanted him to do this at all. What was I thinking? This is crazy! What am I doing here? I cant do this! I am going to die! All these thoughts ran through his mind, and that is when he began to sink. Even though his faith failed him, Jesus was there to catch him.

Fear is a spirit, and it will try and turn you back from what the Lord has for you. For God didnt give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). When you step out in faith, and are on the edge of a major breakthrough, it seems that all hell will break loose against you. Don't give up. Dont give into panic. Only believe. God's plan for you has not changed and He is still calling you to come. God always is calling us into our future, and if we could do it ourselves, we wouldnt need Him. But, I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13) and that includes this.

Prayer: Father, I thank You this day for giving me the opportunity to serve You. Forgive me for being fearful and listening to the voice of the enemy. If You are for me, who can stand against me? What was I thinking to doubt You, the Almighty God? Fill my life with Your presence, strengthen me, and let me see the world through Your eyes, in Jesus name I pray.

David and Dianna Wyles
David and Dianna Wyles Amen! Thanks again for being spot on!! I feel as if God is reminding me that my panic attack was lack of faith somehow, even though when fear attacked My first response was to hold fast to God and cry out to him, still somehow my faith must have waiverd for me to need to cry out. I dont understand how I can know and feel my blessings and feel fear at the same time. Perfect prayer for me again today. Thank you so much for being Gods hands, feet, & pen :) Stay blessed

Kay Rushin
Kay Rushin Pastor, I know this is about faith. but I have a question. If  am a christian why would I NOT want to be with my Lord? I don't want to rush it, but when my work for the Lord is finish, I would be at peace to leave my physical body to be with him. We are always praying for healing, but we all are going to die. Why then is it viewed as such a tragic thing? I find it selfish to want to keep someone alive just for me. I think it is more effective to pray that they are saved. It was not God's intent for people to know death or sickness, it is a by product of sin. Are we saying that faith can keep us alive forever? This is a rhetorical question, I ponder too much!

Twila Stierwalt
Twila Stierwalt I needed to be reminded of this today. God did not give me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self control. I know this in my heart, but living it is a challenge, but it shouldn't be. I know I can not have peace and fear at the same time. I have to choose. Be still and know that I am God. It is a trust issue. Thank God, He lets us make choices, and does not force us to trust Him. I pray that a day at a time I will trust Him.

Carol Pady
Carol Pady I  find when I start feeling discouraged and sense impending doom, that this is when I need to immediately go to the Lord in prayer. I ask for His peace and His strength to prevail.  He turns my thoughts to praise and to counting my blessings.  The devil has to flee and I am once more at peace .

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield As tomorrow draws nearer and I meet with my oncologist, I am starting to be afraid! Suddenly, the realization that I have cancer has dawned on me, and I really needed to see your message today. This is one thing I cannot ignore--I have a tendency of ignoring my problems, falsely thinking they will go away on their own. But this HAS to be dealt with! Thanks so much for directing me to the Bible passages I should be focusing on today.
