In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6'7 WEB.In the past, many saints and martyrs h...

Furthermore, we had the fathers of our flesh to chasten us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? For they indeed for a few days disciplined us as seemed good to them, but he for our profit, that we may be partakers of his holiness. Al...

Satisfaction

  • For he satisfies the longing soul. He fills the hungry soul with good Psalms 107:9 WEB.

Temporary pleasures offer temporary satisfaction but often come with longterm repercussions. There are so many things in our lives that promise or would appear to provide satisfaction, but they all fall short of it in the long run.

You can eat a good meal, but you will soon be hungry again. Buying something new is temporarily satisfying, but then you have to pay for it. Sex is good by nature, though with the wrong one disastrous, and either way, you are soon empty. You can marry the most loving person on earth, but you will be alone again if you live long enough.

Life is full of temporary pleasures, and most of these things are great, but Jesus is the cement that holds our lives together. There is no lasting satisfaction without a relationship with Him. Jesus can fill that empty spot where something has been missing and make what you already have even better. He can fix things you don't even know are broken and give you something that will last for eternity, which can never be taken away.

I have found that the closer I walk with God, the more satisfying the rest of my life becomes. And when I start to become distanced, I become unhappy. I am astounded by the love that He has for us and how perfect His plans come together in our lives when we take the time to make Him part of it.

God has a plan for each of us, and He can fill the empty places in our lives. If we need something, He can bring it about. The Lord is better than we can imagine, and if we only put Him first in our lives, the rest will fall into place. When you delight in Him, He will give you the true desires of your heart.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You so much for all that You do for me. Please fill the empty places in my life and reshape my desires. Teach me to live and walk in Your presence every day. I want more of You in my life today. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!

Note: For those following the Creation Photography weekly challenges, here is this week's theme from group leader, Dianna Wyles: Proverbs 15:30 "A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health." ~ 'It Made Me Smile' sounds like a fun-filled theme for this week. Amen! God is so good to us! He is always willing to forgive us when we ask for His forgiveness. When we make Him number one in our life He does give us the desires of our heart. I have experienced this first hand. I went through a bad divorce situation and I was lost and broken. After about a year I prayed for God to send someone into my life because I was too scared to find someone on my own. He sent me someone, the perfect someone for me. We have been married almost 9 years now. Then I asked God to help us to  find a house to buy and he sent someone to me to tell me about a house that wasnt even on the market yet and we had first chance at it. Then I was looking for a new job and he sent someone that I had just met to tell me about a job. I didnt know if I wanted this job, it didnt sound that good but I took it because it was all that I could find. God handed me that job and I worked their for 13 years until a merger came in and started letting go all of our management employees. I told everyone that  God had handed me this job and if He took it away He would give me something even better. The day that I was let go, God gave me the Peace that transends all understanding. I was not sad, or worried. I had an incredible peace and I knew this was from God because I am generally an anxious person. God is always there for me and I have made Him number one in my life since my divorce.

I needed to hear this. I am going through a similar situation and have not handled this well. I ask God for forgiveness and depend on him to get me through this.   I know this will work out, but I am broken now, and my life is slowly mending. Thank you for posting!!!
