That Nagging Feeling

  • So Jesus said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of His own accord, but only what He sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise. John 5:19 ESV

Their eyes welled up with tears as I handed them the envelope. Without saying anything, they knew what was inside because they had been silently praying for help. All the while they were trying to keep up an outward appearance that everything was fine. I just had this nagging feeling that I was supposed to give them some money, though by all appearances they appeared to have more than I did. God saw what I did not see.

Jesus rose early in the morning and prayed, then listened and was alert to what the Holy Spirit was saying. It was not a cold, dead, religious word but a living, fresh, relevant word each day. No one walked on water, until Jesus did. No one fed thousands from one lunch basket, until Jesus did. He was our example and worked with God daily. He always did what He saw the Father doing.

When you have that nagging feeling that you are supposed to do something, even though it appears to make no sense to you, do it. God often seeks those that will listen to be the answer to someone's secret prayer. Following the gentle prompting of the Holy Spirit will make your life come alive.

Prayer: Father, please refill me with your Holy Spirit and bring divine encounters in my life. I believe that You are the living God and have a plan for me. Teach me to recognize when You are speaking, in the name of Jesus.

Note: Thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes! We spent a quiet day at home together and did some grilling. May you have a very blessed day for you are a blessing to us!

Beverly Hagar-Schmerse
Beverly Hagar-Schmerse I have bipolar illness, and there were many, many years I did not speak up when I got that nagging feeling...I "hid my light under a bushel basket" so to speak... because I have gotten such suspicious judgments when I did, as to whether I was really sane or not...Well, I have been seeing a Spiritual Director for the last three years, and he has helped me to regain my courage, and open up with what God placed on my heart, no matter what others think...So now at 69, I have decided to just "speak out loud", and let the chips fall where they may.  Don't get me wrong, it was not Christians that were the ones so much putting this pressure on me to "keep silent", but those who were closest to me...my family...(those who do not have a faith in God)...I realize now, that all those years of being unable to "speak up" were my years of preparation and "training"; and "honing" of the skills I would need for what God has in store for me...Many times along the way during those years, I would try to "speak up", but I was thwarted...but I knew then, that that wasn't God's time for me yet...I would have to "wait" longer...Prayer, worship, living silently and quietly the Words God gave me, were how I lived out those years...and even though I was severely tested and stretched, as Paul was, I kept the faith...though I wobbled many a time...and fell on occasion...God was my constant companion.  I tell you this, as encouragement...God has each of us in His hands;;;He know each us, and keeps us close to His Heart...As a Catholic, I also believe in praying to Jesus' Mother Mary...God chose Her especially among all other women to be His Son's Mother...so if God picked her for such an important role...I figure she must carry some weight with the Father; and of course she absolutely does with Her Son, so I pray to her to intercede with the Father and the Son on my behalf...cause what Mother would not want the best for her children?  and after all, Jesus upon the cross, gave her to us, when He said to John and Mary:  Woman, here is your son; son, here is your Mother...So every day in some way, I pray:  Sacred Heart of Jesus; Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us sinners that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.  Amen.  Have a great day...

David and Dianna Wyles
David and Dianna Wyles Wonderful Prayer! Thank you for todays devotional! I often have that nagging feeling... just recently I have started to act on some of those little nagging thoughts and urges. I'll let you know how it turns out as right now it feels as if I should have stayed out of things but I know Gods plan is better than mine and I'm am sure after months of being on my mind and nagging me, it was God urging me to intervine and try to help healing happen, so I am equally sure God will see us through to the healing he promised. We are always a work in progress and I am greatful for that, knowing each day is another chance to "Get it Right" is comforting. Thank you Pastor and stay blessed. :)

Albert Chau That nagging feeling might save our lives from disaster not just doing God's will for others. Yesterday morning I had nagging feeling to pray, I didn't know what will happen but pray anyway, then later in the day I avoided having 2 car accidents.

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield I had that "God-nudging" yesterday, telling me to get to my doctor's appointment early. And it's a good thing I did! My doctor had some startling news for me, and I was then able to make the necessary appointments with the surgeon he recommended. Please pray for me. Our God has an ironic sense of humor, for after battling anorexia most of my life, now, at age 55, I have stomach cancer! Thanks so much.

Beatrice "Raye" Huth
Beatrice "Raye" Huth It is beautiful when we listen to God's nudging...I walked to the Post Office the other day (when I really wanted to drive) and ran into a fellow down on his luck and stopped to talk and give him an encouraging word; I was sent to deliver God's word into his life.

Judy Cole Psalm 118: 17:  I will not die. but shall live and declare the works of the Lord.  God's word shall not return void!  Speak this word over yourself every day.  God gave me this word 4 different times, twice to me and twice from 2 other people.  I have a tumor blocking my bile duct which is cancerous.  This cancer wll not take my life!!!  I believe this wth all my heart and soul.  God Bless!!! God's got this....why do you think He nudged you?  Nothing happens by accident!

David and Dianna Wyles
David and Dianna Wyles I am praying for immediate and total healing for you, Kathy. I am so sorry you are going through this scary trial. I have friends fighting cancers also. :(  I have read a lot about cancer cures lately... and I have learned a few things like sugar feeds cancer so try to keep sugars to a minimum in your diet, keeping your body in good nutritional heath matters too, an organic ,clean diet is best and getting your body's ph levels balanced is important to fight off cancers. Also I read an article about a woman that beat cancer (I forget which kind) naturally with no chemo , by juicing organic carrot juice>>> the beta carotene fought it off. Don't give up yet there is so much new information on cancer out there. I know it's controversial but I have been reading about cannabis oil and how it can cure some cancers also. Bottom line is you have choices and not all Dry’s will discuss them all with you because Chemo and radiation are the money makers and that's what they are trained to sell you, so please I beg of you, do your own google search and research all you can before you let fear and pressure from the Dr make a decision for you. Praying also for strength and peace through your battle.
