In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea. When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It's a ghost!" and they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying "Cheer up! I AM! Don't be afraid." Peter answered him and said...

Anchor of the Soul from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. When people lose hope, they lie down and die. They lose the will to live and fight any longer. Hopelessness is utter despair, the belief that nothing good will happen. When you begin to think like this, it will bring a desire to die. A ...

The Pharisees and the scribes asked him, "Why don't your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?" How to Feed a Possum

  • Therefore, I tell you, don't be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn't life more than food, and the body more than clothing? See the birds of the sky, that they don't sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you of much more value than they? Matthew 6:25'26 WEB.

Painstakingly I hand rubbed four chicken breasts with olive oil, seasoned them carefully, and pre-heated the grill to sear them. Then I slow cooked them over the flame, turning them back and forth on the grill until golden brown. After this, I placed my culinary creation on a plate, but as I turned and opened the door, three of them fell on the porch!

I wasn't too happy about this, but I took the three that dropped out to the edge of the woods by our home, and we split the last one between us. The next morning they were all gone. A possum and a stray dog had enjoyed a feast together. God had given them a banquet, and He'd had me prepare it for them, gourmet style.

God takes care of the entire universe. If He will take care of a possum and a stray dog, how much more will He take care of you? So many times, we get caught up in fear of what may come tomorrow, but God took care of you yesterday because you are here reading this.

We often panic because we don't believe God will take care of us. Instead, we trust temporary things that can easily vanish or be taken from us, as Laban did (Genesis 31:30). Yet, when trouble comes, so will the solution. When the need arises, so will the provision. You give your children what they need when the proper time comes. So does God.

Jesus told us, "But seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matthew 6:33). This verse means: "Ally yourself with God." We are not to be distracted by material needs. Our needs will be provided as long as we work with God and do His will. It's a leap of faith, and it requires us to trust Him.

God sees where you are today, and He understands. While we worry and agonize, He is busy preparing something good for us. It's beautiful when God turns the tide, and we find that all of our worry and fear was for nothing. I have put my trust in God. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? (Psalm 56:11).

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You so much for providing for me. You know what I am facing here better than I do. My help comes from the Lord, and my eyes are on You. Please guide me and help me get involved in what You are doing on the earth today. I want to ally with You, Lord. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!

This is so true.  In 2013 I lost a job, a home, and my self-esteem.  My family, my wife and daughter our little dog and a big cat, had no where to live. I worried about everything.

We had a motorhome that everyone told me to get rid of because is was an expense we didn't need - but I refused.  Turned out it might have been one of the better decisions I made at the time.

I found this devotional series and every morning I was uplifted by the message Pastor Dion gave. Each time I felt like giving up, I was given His word that was exactly pertinent to the situation. Pastor Dion seemed to be talking to me.

God impressed one of our church families to give us a place to park the motorhome and we lived in a fruit orchard at tne end of a row of peaches for 22 months.

He gave my wife a volunteer position in the church with the food pantry and while she helped feed over 100 families a week in the community, God gave us food to eat as well.

When unemployment had run out, and I still had not found a job, He gave me a job working in a cemetary. Not my dream job, but just having a job boosted my spirit.

Throughout all of this, I learned the importance of returning to God what is his. Whenever I gave my tithe, as pitiful as it was at times, we received special blessings of food or gasoline or clothing.

Things have gotten much better. It was a season of my life that I needed to have - to be humbled - so that I could do what I do now.

God knows what I need.  I take what I am given with thanks and I have not been in need since.

The two things I learned from that experience are humility and the absolute importance of tithing.
