They were all astonished at the majesty of God. But while all were marveling at all the things which Jesus did, he said to his disciples, 'Let these words sink into your ears, for the Son of Man will be delivered up into the hands of men.' But they didn't understand this saying. It was concealed fro...

Good Neighbors from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about the importance of being a good neighbor. Ever since Adam and Eve had kids and one killed the other, it has been an ongoing thing, learning to live with one another. Most of the ten commandments are about how we tr...

When I kept silence, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on me. My strength was sapped in the heat of summer. Selah. I acknowledged my sin to you. I didn't hide my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh, and you forgave t...

Pray For Others

  • And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before. Job 42:10 KJV

Job went through a terrible time in his life where he lost everything, and as he sat in ashes with sores covering his body, his friends told him that it was because of his sinful life that this happened. This had to be a new low for Job who lived blameless and upright, and before this trial he was a man of wealth and power.

But when Job prayed for those same friends, God changed his situation and gave him twice as much as he had before. He turned the captivity of Job and set him free when he prayed for someone else. Everything that Job lost, he gained back double.

Jesus said: Again, assuredly I tell you, that if two of you will agree on earth concerning anything that they will ask, it will be done for them by my Father who is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of them (Matthew 18:1920 WEB).

Solomon said: Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesnt have another to lift him up (Ecclesiastes 4:910 WEB).

Pray for your others, especially when they do not deserve it, even the ones that look down at you. Also when you pray for others, they in turn may pray for you. It could very well be what sets you free from your own captivity.

Prayer: Father I thank you for all that you do for me. Show me those in need and teach me how to pray for them. Anoint me and guide me, in the name of Jesus.

Patty Martin Prayers lifted for others is so important and Jesus has called us to do so. In a time when our country is so divided, many people have become distant to the word of God.  I am especially praying for the lost and unbelievers.  They will not pray for themselves and live each day as though this is the only life they will ever have.  They don't believe in God, in Heaven, or in Hell.  I have come across many unbelievers lately who ridicule Christians.  They choose not to listen to scripture and the truth.  They don't understand the difference between religion and a personal relationship with Christ, and their hearts have become hardened.  They are full of anger and speak hateful words about Christians. I keep them in prayer daily and remind myself that (although I've always believed in God) my walk with Christ wasn't always where it is today.  Other Christians have prayed for me, even when I didn't deserve it.  God has placed it in my heart to keep praying for the lost, for our country, and not to cease praying.

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield I HAVE PROOF THIS IS TRUE! Yes, I AM shouting because I am so excited! Remember when I asked for prayers because my elderly parents filed a civil suit against me last week? IT WAS ALL A MISUNDERSTANDING! My father wrongly believed my ex husband had planned to steal the money I owe him! So, yesterday, before I went to visit my parents to straighten this mess out, I PRAYED for all of us at Mass.I even put their names in the Parish Life Book at the front of the church. Yes, prayer really does work, and when it doesn't, I refer to Daniel Chapter 10 verses 12-14. That explains why sometimes our prayers are not answered.Never underestimate the power of Satan!

Tina G
Tina G I have to admit that praying for someone who has hurt me is not my automatic response. But after I suffer some,  I remember that I'm supposed to pray for this person. I pray for the things I want for myself: peace and harmony and whatever else I'm needing that day. I do this every time that person pops into my head. It maybe a few days or a couple weeks but it works! Pretty soon that hurt feeling has melted away. I couldn't believe it would work until I tried it. Amazing!

Deleted Member Amen, many times if may feel hard to pray for those that have hurt you or done you wrong, but if we push through and pray for them, it lets them no longer live rent free in our hearts and minds.

Deleted Member What a beautiful way to express your love for others, just pray from your heart and thats all that matters, Jesus even hears our hearts prayers, because many times for me, I haven't had the words to pray out loud, but inside, I knew Jesus was listening to my heart prayers. He loves us so much.

David and Dianna Wyles
David and Dianna Wyles Me too Tamara, so many times in life I have had to pray for God to just hear my heart and just as many times, he has answered my prayers and let me know and feel they were answered>> even when I didn't like the answer or outcome... I still felt I had been heard and answered because his plan was better and he knew more about the circumstances in every situation. <3

Rod Fortner
Rod Fortner I've been reading and thinking about what God says hell is like and if we truly understood had bad it will be for those that choose to be there, I think we will have better understanding of why we should pray even for those that persecute us. It truly is a place that we shouldn't want out worse enemy to be. God have mercy on our soul. How deep is the love and mercy of God not wanting anyone to perish but have life everlasting with Him!

Cheryl Hepler
Cheryl Hepler Great read.  I have aifferent question, Pastor Todd.  When you have someone on yr prayer list, a friend or someone you use to see and now don't, is there a time when you stop?  I've had someone say the Holy Spirit directed them to stop.  Wait to hear.
