Seek Yahweh while he may be found. Call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts. Let him return to Yahweh, and he will have mercy on him, to our God, for he will freely pardon. Isaiah 55:6-7 WEB.I am a morning person. I like to get the most important work of the day done as early as possible. Then in the afternoon, I enjoy playing music, writing songs, gaming, and other pursuits. I like to spend some quiet time with the Lord in the morning before my brain is drained of all its energy.
However, I was called to pray every day at about 3 PM for a couple of months. It became a driving desire, a hunger, and the most important thing in my life for a season. Rather than doing the usual things that I would normally do, I would go into my room each day, close the door, and pray for one to three hours.
It wasn't your normal praying either. I laid on the floor with my face on the carpet in tears, and the Lord's presence would cover me like a warm blanket. There was such a sweet fellowship that it was all that I wanted to do. Eventually, it lifted, and life returned to normal. Then I returned to my morning prayer time.
It was a very rewarding experience, but it preceded a very dark time in my life where my faith was strained to the breaking point. I am not sure what I would have done if I had not spent the time in prayer leading up to it. When I finally came out of the test, He pushed me into full-time ministry. The time I spent in prayer brought the breakthrough.
The Lord is always with us, but there are special times when He wants you to come aside and spend some quality time with Him. These are times when He draws near to you, calls you to take a break from the daily routine, and to spend time with Him. He uses it to bring new fire into your life, inspiration, to prepare you for what is coming. If you feel the Lord tugging at your heart and prompting you to come aside for a while, don't neglect Him.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You so much. Please have Your way in my life. Lead me, and I will follow. Call me, and I will come. Open the door, and I will go through it. I want more of You in my life today. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!Note: Happy Father's Day! May you all have a joyful celebration of our Father in Heaven, and of your fathers on Earth!
