For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won't prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it; because it will surely come. It won't delay. Habakkuk 2:3 WEB.About thirty-five years ago, the Lord gave me a word that I would pioneer new things in ministry and fo...

The king talked with them; and among them all was found no one like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. Therefore stood they before the king. In every matter of wisdom and understanding concerning which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchante...

If you died with Christ from the elements of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to ordinances, "Don't handle, nor taste, nor touch" (all of which perish with use), according to the precepts and doctrines of men? These things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imp...

The Sound of Music

  • and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up. Then the herald cried aloud, "To you it is commanded, peoples, nations, and languages, that whenever you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music, you fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king has set up. Whoever doesn't fall down and worship shall be cast into the middle of a burning fiery furnace the same hour. Daniel 3:3-6 WEB.

The three Hebrews stood before a giant golden idol ninety feet high. They were commanded to bow down and worship it whenever the music began to play. It was a direct violation of God's law to do this, but everyone around them seemed to be doing it. The Hebrews refused to worship the idol. So the angry king had them thrown into a fiery furnace, but God delivered them out of it, and they were not harmed. Only the ropes that bound them burned away.

When the music began to play, thousands of others worshiped the idol as they had been instructed. Interestingly, they were only required to bow to this golden image when the music played. Ninety-nine percent of the time, their life went on as usual. It was a trigger: When you hear the music playing, you must do this.

Have you ever had something that only popped up at certain times in your life, and you felt powerless against it? You were once again so sure that you had beaten this and put it behind you. Then a year later, the music played, and you did it again. It is like the enemy has a small music box in our pocket he can open, and then something dark drops over us.

There is hope, for if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed (John 8:36). Jesus brings light into the darkness, and He can deliver us from anything. It is simply a pop test: "Are they ready for the next level? I guess not." It is just a test, and I believe the breakthrough we have been waiting for comes only after learning to ignore the music.

God understands this, and He is patient with us. When you stumble, get up, repent, and move on again. Don't give up on God, for He won't give up on you. Don't give up on life. One day God will set you free from this, and when the music plays, nothing will happen. But until then, you must just get up, dust yourself off, and keep going.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please set me free from the things that hold me and burn the iniquity out of me. I thank You that there is still hope and that Your mercy is renewed each morning. Wash me, and I will be clean. Take away the music box. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and give me the mind of Christ. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!

Note: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths." (Prov. 3:5-6) ~ If you are in need of prayer, we and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network
