A cheerful heart makes good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Proverbs 17:22 WEB.Health tip: Don't worry. Be Happy. You can add years to your life and health to your body by merely being joyful and happy. No one should be able to manipulate your joy externally because it should come from the inside of you.
People, places, and things can cause problems, but how you react to events is entirely under your power. You can choose to turn the other cheek or to become angry and turn theirs. Yes, we do have a part to play in our life. Regardless of what people may tell you today, you are responsible for your own actions.
There are so many attacks that come against us daily that it is easy to become discouraged. That is the enemy's purpose for them. But true happiness isn't found in things, jobs, or success, or even in people. Your relationship with Jesus is what can bring an unshakable peace to your life.
Paul said that he had learned to be content in whatever his circumstances were (Philippians 4:11). Whether he had been beaten, shipwrecked, or in prison, Paul was content where he was. He wrote much of the New Testament from behind prison walls. If he had not been imprisoned, he would not have had the time to do so.
Paul learned to detach his emotions from his circumstances and to be at peace. He focused on the invisible and the eternal (2 Corinthians 4:16). He found the will of God in every situation and kept close fellowship with Jesus. Nothing else was more important to him. We can behave the same way. The same grace and peace that Paul had then are still available to us today.
The Joy of the Lord is our strength. Remember when you were first saved how you felt so light, so happy, filled with joy? That is what happens when you lay your burdens down at the cross. Yet, too often, we pick them back up again, and the heaviness soon returns. So pray and let God worry about it, then leave your baggage at the cross once and for all.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please send me grace and peace for my life. Help me to see past the circumstances and to learn to detach my emotions from my situation. Give me strength and guide me today. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!Note: 'Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God.' Thank you for this devotion today. I really look forward to reading these every day! Today's devotion is a great reminder that we are in control of our own actions. We tend to try to blame other things for our actions or our moods, but we are still in control. If we keep our minds on things above it will be easier to be in control of our actions and do the right thing. We also need to always pray before we react to a situation that causes us stress or concern. God always has the answer, and He will help us through our trials and our problems if we will only go to Him in prayer and ask for His help. The other day I had misplaced my checkbook and I began to stress and worry about where I had lost it. I was concerned that someone would find the check I had in there and possibly cash it. After a few minutes of stressing and worrying I prayed for God to help me find my checkbook and I asked that He would keep someone from taking money out of my account. After praying about it, I received peace about it and knew God would help me. I sat down to sew to take my mind off of the problem and all of a sudden I saw my checkbook was on the floor under my sewing machine. I don't know how it got down there, but God pointed me to it, and it was safe.
PRAISE THE LORD. That is what I do too. Pray for about everything and you will find peace.
Yes, amen Lord
Amen and Amen !!! "I have the joy, joy, joy down in my heart . . ." The Lord put this song down in my heart, like so many others like "Peace like a river . . ." and it is so hard sometimes to explain this to others when they ask why are you so happy regardless of all the things going on instead of being depressed, etc... The Lord calms our hearts and gives us a peace which truly is beyond human comprehension/understanding!!! Where would I be without Him?
Amen!
