Blessed is the man who doesn't walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the way of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers; But his delight is in Yahweh's law; On his law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, That brings forth its fruit in its se...

When he came down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. Behold, a leper came to him and worshiped him, saying, "Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean." Jesus stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, "I want to. Be made clean." Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. Matthew 8...

Someday Never Comes

  • He said to another, Follow me! But he said, Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father. But Jesus said to him, Leave the dead to bury their own dead, but you go and announce the Kingdom of God. Another also said, I want to follow you, Lord, but first allow me to bid farewell to those who are at my house. But Jesus said to him, No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the Kingdom of God. Luke 9:59 WEB

Jesus called some to follow Him, but they began to make excuses. Two said that while they would really like to follow Him, they had some things to do first. The third one, Jesus told, "Follow Me!", and the man replied that he needed to bury his father. If the man's father had been a corpse at home, he would not have been with Jesus but occupied with the funeral, so the story implies that he wanted to stay at home until his father died one day. Jesus called them, they wanted to go, but each had reasons why they could not do that right now.

I have talked with people that desperately needed change in their lives, but always put it off to a future date. Before getting serious with God, they would say, "let me deal with this first", and then decades go by and they have still not dealt with it. Your life is happening now and there is nothing more important than your relationship with God Almighty. Let Him help.

There have been times that I have stumbled while walking with the Lord, sometimes for long periods. Like the prodigal son, when I came to my senses (Luke 15:17), I would go and pray for a while and every single time it has been, "Welcome back! Now let's go forward." The past has never been a problem with God and the moment that you are ready to face it, He will wash it from you. He is only interested in our future.

God knows that our life is short and He wants to make the most of it. Jesus asked some people to follow Him, and they began to make excuses why they could not at this time. Not everyone who is called actually goes. Don't let your past hold you back from your future. The ones that made excuses went back home to their plow. You can do that, but the ones that followed Him became the ones that we read about today.

When you stumble, repent, get up, and keep going. Take the risk. Don't look back. This is real. Jesus never said that it would be easy to follow Him. The Apostles led lives filled with trials and tribulations, while filled with unspeakable joy. Get your head in the game and make this count.

Prayer: Lord guide me, teach me, draw me and my family to You. Use me today just as I am and if there is something that needs to change, reveal it to me so that I can deal with it, in the name of Jesus.

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield Like the Israelites, it took 40 years for God to release me from slavery to sin. And that's also how long it took before He heard all my prayers. Suddenly, everything I ever prayed for is slowly but surely happening to me! It's a miraculous indication that God really DOES listen when we ask In Jesus' holy name!

Carol Pady
Carol Pady Sometimes we are unaware of our stumbling until a Bible verse we have often heard and quoted comes alive in a new way revealing our flaws. This turns us to repent and move forward. Everyday we learn better how to serve the Lord and walk in His ways! Thank You Abba Father for Your continual provision of love as You teach Us Your  Ways!

Julie Freire
Julie Freire This kind of reminds me of the book of Genesis, Lot's Wife, when she became a pillar of salt. Just yesterday my Pastor was talking about our confession to Christ, how it comes hand in hand with a promise to God. That you will abide as the new child he is making you and living in accordance to His word, and looking back is not an option, going back to our old ways is simple a statement of lack of faith, and how the book of 3 John states, that he how sins, does not know Him.
