Elijah said to her, Don't be afraid; go and do as you have said; but make me of it a little cake first, and bring it forth to me, and afterward make for you and for your son. For thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, The jar of meal shall not empty, neither shall the jar of oil fail, until the day th...

In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea. When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It's a ghost!" and they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying "Cheer up! I AM! Don't be afraid." Peter answered him and said...

Anchor of the Soul from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. When people lose hope, they lie down and die. They lose the will to live and fight any longer. Hopelessness is utter despair, the belief that nothing good will happen. When you begin to think like this, it will bring a desire to die. A ...

  • Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, "Don't fight with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel." When the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, "It is the king of Israel!" Therefore they turned around to fight against him. But Jehoshaphat cried out, and Yahweh helped him; and God moved them to depart from him. 2 Chronicles 18:31'32 WEB.

Jehoshaphat was a god-fearing king of Judah. But he allied with evil Ahab, king of Israel, and was drawn into a battle with the Syrians. During the fight, a special strike force of the enemy, the chariot commanders, were instructed to find and kill the king of Israel. When they saw Jehoshaphat in his royal attire, they assumed he was Ahab and pursued him. When Jehoshaphat looked back, there was a large group of chariots chasing him. So he cried out to the Lord, and He answered and drew the enemy away from him.

Suppose Jehoshaphat had not cried out to God. In that case, he may have died on the battlefield like King Josiah did (2 Chronicles 35:23). When the enemy turned to attack him, it was all the encouragement that Jehoshaphat needed to ask God for help. It does not record what he said, but it probably included, "God help me!"

Sometimes we view asking for prayer as a weakness, and we put it off as long as possible. We try to quietly hide what is going on in our lives, most often because of pride. Jehoshaphat saw real trouble coming his way, and he was saved because he began to cry out to God in prayer.

We are all in a battle, and our strength and protection come from God Almighty. Do not wait until you are beaten down and weak to start asking God for help. When the attack begins, call for His help immediately.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for hearing my cry for help. Please protect my family and me today. Draw our hearts closer to You, and fulfill Your perfect will in our life. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!

Note: For those participating in the Creation Photography weekly themes, here is this week's challenge from group leader, Dianna Wyles: Genesis 1:26 "Then God said, 'Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.:" ~ Our next fun theme will be 'All God's Creatures' and is open wide for creative interpretation! We encourage you to post anything else that inspires you as well. My photos this week reflect some of God's creatures we encountered yesterday while enjoying His great outdoors. Have an awesome week and, if you are able, take some time to appreciate some of God's amazing creatures around you ~ God bless! Here is the link: Creation Photographers

Pastor Dion, your devotional mirrors perfectly my brutal battle yesterday in the first day of online classes with new tools and "buggy" tech systems. Prayed Jehosophat's prayer through the day and again this morning! I thank You for hearing my cry for help, Lord. Amen!

God bless you for your work! I've been "helping" my grandchildren as they, too, are learning new tools. I'm as bewildered as they are! The teachers are SO patient and kind!

Sometimes we need to be beaten down and weak because God hears the cries of the lowly and rescues anyone who calls out to Him in total surrender.
