Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Paddan Aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian, to be his wife. Isaac entreated Yahweh for his wife, because she was barren. Yahweh was entreated by him, and Rebekah his wife conceived. Genesis 25:20-21 WEBRebekah was barren. She could not have children. But after her husband Isaac prayed for her, she became pregnant with twins. If you read the details, Isaac was forty years old when they got married, and he was sixty when the twins were actually born (Genesis 25:26).
I doubt that Isaac waited twenty years to pray for his wife. My guess is that Isaac prayed for Rebekah, and then he had to wait for it to come to pass as his father Abraham had. Isaac was a miracle baby himself because Abraham was one-hundred years old when he was born, and Sarah ninety (Genesis 21:5).
Twenty years is a long time to wait, and I am sure that Isaac and Rebekah had both about given up on ever having children. They may have even forgotten praying the prayer, but God had not, and in due time, it came to pass.
Pray about the things that you are struggling with early on. Sometimes we do not have because we do not ask (James 4:2). There is nothing wrong with doctors, but do not neglect the examples provided for us in the Bible, and don't give up when you don't see immediate results. 'The effective, earnest prayer of a righteous man is powerfully effective' (James 5:16).
The impossible is possible with God. Your past is not a picture of your future. Signs 'follow' those who believe; they do not come in advance. Pray, trust, and experience.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, You know my needs before I ask You, but there are a few things that I want to share with You because You told us to pray and not give up. (Tell Him what is on your heart.) Thank You for hearing me today, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!Note: Ladies, today is Thankful Thursday at the "Ladies in Distress" group (our RHM women's group)! Amen and Amen !!! Our Lord and God, our Heavenly Father said in Isaiah 49:14-19 " . . . . . . . I will not forget you !" (v 15) - He who has created us "fearfully and wonderfully", He who has carefully "knitted us together in our mother's womb" will not forsake us, will not forget us! All we have to do is to believe, pray, trust and wait on Him, which is a lifelong maturing process especially for me!!! Thank you Lord for teaching me patience!!!
Amen!
