Aren't five sparrows sold for two assaria coins? Not one of them is forgotten by God. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Therefore don't be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows. Luke 12:6 WEBWe live near the coast of South Carolina in the countryside and have a large oak t...

Mockingbird from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about the northern mockingbird, the “many-tongued thrush” This bird can do an exact imitation of the notes it learns from other birds, as well as some animals. It has the ability to sound like a robin, a cardin...

Slow Train Coming

  • Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they quickly brought him out of the pit. And when he had shaved himself and changed his clothes, he came in before Pharaoh. Genesis 41:14 ESV

Joseph had been in prison for over two years, and had been sold as a slave by his brothers years before that. Now he was standing before the pharaoh of Egypt and being given his signet ring. Suddenly, he was the second-in-command of the most powerful nation on earth. Prison in the morning, Ruler of Egypt in the evening. His dream had seemed to take forever, but it had now arrived.

This day was part of God's plan for Joseph and had taken between thirteen to twenty years to come to pass. It was intricate in detail and there were many layers and characters involved in making this happen. Israel was saved during an intense famine. Joseph learned management skills. He was humbled and became a broken man that God could use. There was over a decade of Joseph feeling forgotten, but suddenly his dream came to pass.

God's plans are intricate, deep, and all the pieces have to line up. This can take time, but suddenly it will happen, and it will happen. Keep on doing what you are supposed to do. Don't neglect your part of the plan and be sure to work with Him. God's plan for you may take time, but it will arrive right on schedule.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray that You stir me, wake me, give me a fresh fire and cause me to live Your perfect plan for my life. Move the things that need to be moved and open the doors that need to be opened. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen!

Note: "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." Amen! When I read this it instantly reminded me of my own Joseph, my son Joseph (JC) whom I've requested many prayers from your prayer ministry over the years. He has an addiction to alcohol and has struggled with it for many years, but in February he checked into rehab (the first time he ever took a step to get help) by God's grace and mercy he is still sober today. This is the longest he's ever gone without drinking or doing drugs. All glory to God! There were so many times over the past 10 years that I felt it must not have been God's plan to let JC be sober and healthy, but reading today's devotion reminds me that God was allowing JC to go through some really terrible things in order to grow through them. I admit that I am cautiously optimistic and I feel guilty because I worry he may fall off the wagon at any time, but when I get those feelings I need to remind myself that God  is in control!

Thanks be to God!
