Don't remember the former things, and don't consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs out now. Don't you know it? Isaiah 43:18 WEBWhile sitting in church one morning listening to the speaker drone on, I became bored. I yawned, searched for the time, and wondered how long ...

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 ESVSo there I sat in my prayer room, feeling washed up and wondering why I was there at all that day. After going through a drawn out messy divorce, I didn't go to church at ...

Now Yahweh's word came to me, saying, 'Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I sanctified you. I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.' Then I said, 'Ah, Lord Yahweh! Behold, I don't know how to speak; for I am a child.' Jeremiah 1:4 WEBJeremiah tried to reason w...

The Season Of The Shelf

  • When the season for fruit drew near, He sent His servants to the tenants to get His fruit. Matthew 21:34 ESV

For years I waited, yet every door remained closed. When I was about twenty, the Lord told me through a pastor that He had chosen me for ministry and to begin to prepare myself. I already knew it in my heart. His word was a confirmation of what God had already put inside me. Later while visiting another church, I was told the same thing, prepare yourself for ministry.

I began to attend Bible college, earned a degree, got ordained, read the Bible through a few times and was ready for ministry. Then I waited for the door to openI played in bands, painted houses, was a mechanic, and spent twenty years working on computers. Finally I just went on with life and I no longer thought about the dream of ministry.

Yet when the season came around, the Lord herded us into the ministry like cattle into a stall. In less than a week I suddenly found myself as a pastor and was soon writing. I had needed seasoning. I certainly had the zeal, but I had no depth. I knew too much about the traditions of men, and too little of walking with God daily.

Dont give up during your time on the shelf. You are being seasoned and made ready. Also the fruit has to ripen before He will send you. What God has promised, He will bring to pass. When the proper season comes, He will fulfill His word. He will send His servants to get the harvest.

Prayer: Here I am Lord, send me. I will go where you want me to go, work where you want me to work, and say what you give me to say. Use me Lord, in the name of Jesus.

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield SO TRUE! I was an avid writer throughout my life; when I became anorexic at 14, my mother actually took one of my short stories (about a drug-addicted rock star who commits suicide--THIS WAS 1974! I never HEARD of Kurt Cobain!) to my shrink, attempting to prove how crazy I was to write about such dark subject matters! I took a writing course in 1995, then was attacked by an inmate at the jail where I was employed. Hence, I grew depressed and put my writing on that proverbial back burner. Now, at age 55, I'm finally writing again. And this time, I don't care if my mother thinks I'm crazy!

Carol Pady
Carol Pady In my younger days I often wondered how God would use me. As I am now in my senior years He has pushed me into service as I pursue writing, my fiction books have an invitation to Christ as the final page. He has called me to prayer warrior service here and in other groups. He has lead me to give to worthy ministries. He has inspired me to witness to others. I  still don't know His plan for me, as He only gives me small steps. I do know that as a young new believer, I was not mature enough to serve in these areas. As I grow in my faith, He increases my service. My life in Christ is an adventure that leads me on paths anew everyday!

Twila Stierwalt Now that I am retired because of my health issues, God has given me different ministries that I would never dreamed of. If I had not had bad health God would have used me but in different ways. I love that God uses us in what ever situation we are in.
