So Hannah rose up after they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh. Now Eli the priest was sitting on his seat by the doorpost of Yahweh's temple. She was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to Yahweh, weeping bitterly. 1 Samuel 1:9 WEBHannah poured out her heart to the Lord. She wanted a child so badly that the rest of her life seemed empty and nothing else really mattered. Her husband loved her, and they had a great life, but she was troubled and barren. Nothing but a child could seem to fill the hole in her heart. Hannah prayed so hard that the priest Eli thought that she was drunk, and he insulted her, but the Lord heard her prayer and granted her request. She had a son the following year and named him Samuel which means 'Asked of God.'
It was not a necessity for Hannah to have a son. It was not a matter of life and death. It was a desire, something that she deeply wanted. When it is important to you, it is important to God. Of course, that doesn't mean that we will always get everything that we want. Because our heavenly Father loves us, He will not grant us things that are harmful to us, nor will He work against His own nature, or His word. Listen closely, and He will let you know His answer. Put your trust, your faith, and your hope in Him.
Maybe it is time to get somewhere quiet and pour out your heart. God already knows, but James wrote that sometimes we do not have, because we ask do not ask (James 4:2). Today is the day for that to change. Tell Him all about it, and may the Lord grant your request, in Jesus' name.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, You know what is in my heart, the thing that I have been longing for. Your word tells us to delight in You and that You will give us the desires of our heart. I humbly pray that you grant my request, in the name of Jesus Christ.Note: For those who are participating in our Creation Photographers theme of the week: 2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" ~ Our final fun theme for 2019 will be' 'New Year!
