I See You from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. When I was young in the Lord, I felt insignificant in His eyes. I had been beaten down by life pretty good and often the clothes I wore had as well. When I started going to church, I was often surrounded by people wearing suits and driving cars ...

David said to Saul, Your servant was keeping his father's sheep; and when there came a lion, or a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock, I went out after him, and struck him, and delivered it out of his mouth; and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and struck him, and killed him. ...

If He comes suddenly, do not let Him find you sleeping. Mark 13:36 NIVThere was a time in our life when our business started failing and our income got less, and less, and then stopped. As the bills started piling up, we tried everything, but nothing seemed to help. We gave more, prayed more, fasted...

The Lonely Pig Pen

  • The son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.' But the father said to his servants, 'Bring out the best robe, and put it on him. Put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. Bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let us eat, and celebrate; for this, my son, was dead, and is alive again. He was lost, and is found.' Luke 15:21 WEB

Jesus told a story of a young man who could not wait to get his inheritance from his father. When he finally received it, he left home and immediately ran through it by spending the entire inheritance on riotous living and prostitutes. That was certainly not his father's perfect will for him.

When the party was over and the money was gone, so were his new friends. He became hungry and he tried to find work, but could not. Finally as a last act of desperation, he got a job feeding pigs for a gentile. Both gentiles and pigs were detestable and unclean for a Jew, so he had sunk as low as a Jewish man could go.

I grew up on a farm and slopping the hogs was a daily chore. I can tell you that a pig pen is a messy place to be and the aromas that surround you are memorable. Hogs are not clean animals, but they can be very tasty when prepared properly.

Anyway, this son had now hit rock bottom. For a Jew to be a pig feeder for a despised gentile was as low as he could go in social status. After a while of doing this, scripture tells us that he came to his senses. He realized that he was now broke, hungry, living by slopping the hogs, and that it was his own choices that got him there.

He remembered that the servants in his Father's house always had plenty to eat, so he decided to return home and become a servant like them. He put together a long speech about how he was no longer worthy to be called a son. But the Father met him on the road and before he could even give the speech, the father in the story was throwing a celebration and making him the guest of honor at it. The Father's heart said: 'You will always be my son.' The son only had to return home for the Father's door was wide open and he was welcome.

Sometimes we ask God for things and then when we get it, we completely blow it. One of those 'Oh my, that was stupid' moments that we wake up from. God understands and He wants us to return to Him. His door is always open. No matter what you have done, you are welcome at His house. This story was included in the Bible for people like us. When you come to your senses, return home to the Father. It is ok, He understands. You don't have to stay out there with the pigs.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank You for always having an open door. I choose You today and ask that You help me find my place in Your kingdom. Put me where You want me to be Lord. Open the next door and I will walk through it, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Matthew 1:21 ~ "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins." ~ Merry Christmas, everyone!!! May you all have a safe, joyful, and blessed time, filled with laughter and love!

I love this story of the Prodigal son. God is so good that even when we fail him miserably He always welcomes us back with open arms. God loves us so much that even when we sin or are leading a sinful life, He wants us to come back to Him and He calls out to us to return to Him. When we do come back He welcomes us with open arms and forgives us instantly. He doesnt continue to hold a grudge against us because we were living contrary to His word. God knows that we screw up and will continue to screw up throughout our life. We are human and we mess up most days if not every day. God loves us even when no one else loves us or if we feel unlovable. He wants to put a ring on our finger and a robe on our back and welcome us with open arms and He says, " My child I love you so much, there is nothing you can do to ever make me stop loving you, and I am so glad to have you back" Father God I am so thankful for your love and Mercy. You never give up on me and you always bring me back when I stray. No one loves me like you do. You always guide me in the direction of your perfect will for my life and I am so thankful. Thank you for sending Jesus to die in my place so that I can be with you when I leave this earth. Amen!!
