For it is precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little. Isaiah 28:10 WEB.We had scattered pieces all over the table while we worked on assembling a jigsaw puzzle. It was a total mess. This one was mysteriously difficult, for someone had mistakenly...

God is my rock in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are ...

Forgiveness is for You

  • If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 ESV

So there I sat in my prayer room, feeling washed up and wondering why I was there at all that day. After going through a drawn out messy divorce, I didn't go to church at all and rarely prayed. I felt that the Lord was done with me. I had let Him down and the whole church as well. Yep, 'those days are finished', I thought.

I thought there may be hell in my future, but at least I was free from the hell on earth. As I sat there thinking on this, I flipped open my Bible and it fell on Rom 11:29: 'For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.' I pondered this a moment and thought what if I have not trashed God's plan for me?

I prayed about this over the next week, and that is exactly how He felt. Sure, God hates divorce, but He is divorced as well (Jer. 3:8). He's been there. He was waiting on me to get up from my bed of self condemnation and I learned that I can be forgiven as well. We all fall, but not all get up, and the church has become skilled at keeping you down after a divorce.

We all know that others can be forgiven, but often when we stumble, we just don't see it for us. When you fall, get up. God is not angry with you. He does not take back His gifts or His calling because you stumble. His plan is still on for your life and you are the only one that can stop that. Forgiveness is for you as well.

Prayer: Father, please show me areas of my life where I need to accept Your forgiveness. Set me free from my past, restore what the enemy has taken from me Lord, in the name of Jesus.

Note: "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people" (Ephesians 6:18). If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network

Amen! I have said many times the church is the only army I know of who shoots it's own wounded. If there should ever be a no gun zone, it would be at church. Thank You Lord!

This devotional certainly does offer "Refreshing Hope!" I have always been appalled at the church's attitude towards divorce. Jesus Himself said that all sins can be forgiven, save for blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
