Then Mordecai asked them to return this answer to Esther: "Don't think to yourself that you will escape in the king's house any more than all the Jews. For if you remain silent now, then relief and deliverance will come to the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. Who...

In the same hour, the fingers of a man's hand came out and wrote near the lamp stand on the plaster of the wall of the king's palace. The king saw the part of the hand that wrote. Then the king's face was changed in him, and his thoughts troubled him; and the joints of his thighs were loosened, and ...

One of the criminals who was hanged insulted him, saying, "If you are the Christ, save yourself and us!" But the other answered, and rebuking him said, "Don't you even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward for our deeds, but this ma...

Restoration

  • David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in to her, and lay with her. She bore a son, and he called his name Solomon. Yahweh loved him; and he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet, and he named him Jedidiah, for Yahweh's sake. 2 Samuel 12:24 WEB

David and Bathsheba were the talk of town. They had an affair while her husband Uriah was away serving in the military. She became pregnant, and David had her husband killed in order to cover it up. This was worse than most church scandals today.

Though David went through a very bad time because of his actions, God restored them all. They got married, had a son named Solomon, and the LORD loved him. David, Bathsheba, and their son Solomon, are listed in the lineage of Jesus Christ (Matthew 1:6). God loved David before, and after this incident. It was just a bump in the road, but he did have to repent in order to move forward with God once again (Psalms 51).

In my own life, the Lord told me to prepare myself for ministry. I went through Bible college, earned my degree, and looked forward to a bright future. Later though, I had to endure a long messy divorce, which brought out the worst in everyone involved. Wrecked and humbled, I was convinced that the ministry path had ended, that the ship had sailed, so I concentrated on my computer business.

Years later when He felt that I was finally ready, He ended the computer business and pushed me straight into the ministry. Now, I am here writing this devotional and using the skills that I learned during that time of preparation to build an online church.

People fall, they repent, and God restores them. If you have made mistakes in your life, know that you are in good company. Repent, and don't worry about the disapproval of those around you. Even though David and Bathsheba are in the lineage of Jesus, they would probably not be welcome in many local churches. I am not saying that we should view sin lightly, but that God is more forgiving than His people.

Likewise, be kind to those around you who have fallen. Often we will hang on to what they have done forever, long after the Lord has forgiven them. Though what they have done may have been as serious as David's sin or even worse, you do not want that bitterness to live in you.

Face it, life is messy. People are not perfect and sometimes they are seriously flawed. Still, if they truly repent, God will restore them. If you have fallen, repent and get up. This is not the end. Though the righteous fall seven times, they get up. God will restore the fallen when they call out to Him.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your grace and mercy. Unless You had sent Your Son Jesus, none of us would be saved. None of us can earn Your salvation. Forgive me of my sins. I forgive others and let them go. Wash me and cleanse me from all bitterness, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people" (Ephesians 6:18). If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network

That was a great message, If God would forgive David and Bathsheba he will certainly forgive and restore us. We have all done things we are sorry for or regret, Is it not better to repent and be forgiven and restored/ I sure think so, because I have had pletny of messes in my my own life, And I thank God everyday for his grace and mercy, and I have learned to repent quickly when I know I have made a mistake. He is faitful and good. He restoreth my soul. Amen!

What a  timely message for me! Another example of God's forgivenerss can be seen in the Book of Judges. Despite their "sin cycle", God continued to forgive His people when they repented.

Amen! Most people call the church an Army of Christians. It is the only Army I know of that shoots it's own wounded. Dion is right, if you are truly born again and you know it, Repent and ask God to forgive you, He certainly will. Know that the same oppertunity will come around very quickly to see if you learned anything.

I struggle with this especially because my ex-husband has done some. Horrible things and he still has not asked God or anyone else for forgiveness.

Thank you for this message Pastor Dion!!! I learned that first hand that to forgive and forget is often very hard and a painful process, but also a healing process for us! How can we hold on and not forgive and forget, and then expect our Lord to forgive us? That is a fervent prayer of mine especially for my/our daughter, who has been hurt and disappointed so much in many ways, especially when she was previously married! I also believe that is why she has so many health and emotional problems! She is holding on and on, the bitterness is festering like a cancer and choking her in her relationships with us, her son, and especially with the Lord God most high! May the Lord grant restoration to her and grant healing, in the most holy name under heaven, in the name of Jesus I ask and pray, Amen!!!
