In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea. When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It's a ghost!" and they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying "Cheer up! I AM! Don't be afraid." Peter answered him and said...

Anchor of the Soul from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. When people lose hope, they lie down and die. They lose the will to live and fight any longer. Hopelessness is utter despair, the belief that nothing good will happen. When you begin to think like this, it will bring a desire to die. A ...

The Pharisees and the scribes asked him, "Why don't your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?" He answered them, "Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honors me with their lips, But their heart is far f...

The Stealership

  • The spirit of man is Yahweh's lamp, searching all his innermost parts. Proverbs 20:27 WEB

A friend of mine once worked as a salesman at a local car dealership. One day a lady came in that wanted to buy a certain car, but the air conditioning did not work properly. The manager wanted to move that car and he promised her that they would fix the air conditioning for free if she would bring it back later in the month.

She purchased the car as is, but when she brought it back to have the air conditioning repaired, the manager denied promising her anything. Then he called my friend into his office to back up his lie. At that point my friend had to make a decision: To do the right thing and tell the truth, or to look the other way, and keep his job.

He sided with the woman and got the air conditioning on the car fixed, but the embarrassed manager got even with him and he lost his job. In the end it worked out for the best as the "stealership" soon closed and my friend has built a loyal following of people that will only buy a car from him, wherever he works.

Have you ever done something and then felt wrong about it? Maybe you did not describe the item that you sold clearly enough? I have. In business transactions, it is easy to lean towards the salesman in us if we are not careful.

The Spirit searches all of our motives and transactions as a light shining into the darkest places. It reveals the things that we would like to keep hidden. If you face a choice of doing what is right or looking the other way, remember that right will always be right, and it will work out for the best in the long run. Short term gains are quickly lost, but the guilt will remain.

Prayer: Heavenly Father please guide me and help me to make the right decisions in my life. Keep my focus on You, and prevent me from becoming distracted. Help me to live a life that is pleasing in Your sight, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Chron 7:14). If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network

Marilyn Salter I get criticized for being too honest. I can’t stand lying or people that lie. I distance myself from them completely when they do it. I forgive them for it, but I don’t tolerate it. Am I wrong for feeling this way or for being too honest? What exactly is too honest? I don’t color things pretty for people and I’m not cruel when they ask me a question, but I always tell them the truth. It’s the way God made me. So thank you Pastor Todd for this sermon.

Sara Jane Turner Marilyn, I do not know your age or really anything about you but that you believe in honesty. Well, sweetie, I will be 76 this month and I can assure that what my dad told me when I was growing up has always worked for me...Know the truth, always tell the truth, the truth is always the right answer and the truth will always set you free. A lie ALWAYS comes out in the end and so it never pays to do it. In my work life I most worked for one of the Government Agencies. Upon graduation at age 17 on a Friday, the following Monday I went in to the local post office to see employment and was hired on the spot...so...1st Job was as a Postmaster and that was working for the Federal Government before I even knew anything about a social security card so that was my first act of business. ha ha I decided to leave my small town for he big city and moved to Sacramento CA and took a State Test as was hired by the California Highway Patrol at age 20...so...2nd job was for California State Government. I worked in various different State agencies promoting up my line of work. I retired on disability retirement in 1999 after my 4th and final serious on-the-job injury. I am proud of my background and the fact that I kept going back as soon as I could but the last one did it. I am confined to using a walker as I will never totally recover in my back and legs and right arm injuries. The thing that followed me all those years was from my Lieutenant in Quincy CHP office which stuck...He told everyone who asked about me..."Never ask Sara Jane a question if you do not want the truth...she does not lie." Quite a boon really and I am still proud of it. So, yes, Marilyn, always tell the truth but when it is a harsh truth tell it privately. You will always do well if you stick to that... God bless you wherever you go and in whatever you do. Amen Sara Jane Turner go

Thank you Sara Jane. I am 56, almost 57 and I’ve had plenty of time to screw things up, but staying true to God and the truth has always come easy to me.
