Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, "Don't fight with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel." Say Nothing Negative

  • Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:33 NKJV

We sat quietly at the table while we ate our food. Normally we talked and laughed, but tonight we were both worried about tomorrow. We had found a lien on our property for a tax bill that we never owed, but it had accumulated late fees until it was more than we had. Disputing it was going to be a challenge in the least because it was a decade old.

What could we do? We called the state tax office to begin a dispute and they explained that the record was so old that it had been archived and removed from their system. They would have to restore it from a backup and it would be an overnight process, so we had to call back tomorrow.

We just sat down together and prayed over it, and got an impression to Say nothing negative. It was the only word for that day so we stood on it and just said nothing at all because my every thought was negative. It was very difficult to not whine and complain and talk about all the different scenarios and the what if that may happen. We managed to restrain ourselves and ate our food silently.

After a night of silence, the next day came and we called them back. To our surprise, the tax office had cleared the lien and we owed them nothing. They took care of all of the paperwork and explained that because we never owed the original tax bill we did not owe the late fees and penalties either.

Do not worry about tomorrow. Pray and try to follow the Lord as best you can today, and let tomorrow worry about itself. One word from God changes everything. Many times, the things that we are worried about never even come to pass, and what you worry about today, may never happen. Trust God instead.

Kathy Banfield
Kathy Banfield Wow--I sure relate! In 2010, my worst fears came true and I was delivered a notice of foreclosure. It was the WORST day of my life--I remember it was August, but I was freezing and just couldn't get warm. Nothing could console me. I spent the rest of the summer in tears.I couldn't even talk to my therapist, who I started seeing when I lost my job--because I just couldn't form a coherent word through my tears! Somehow, I got through it--and now I KNOW it was only because of the grace of GOD!

Carol Pady With just a teeny bit of faith the size of a mustard seed we can move mountains. I have found whenever I say I claim victory over a situation or circumstance because I gave it to God in prayer, He always remedies it, He gives me blessing and much more than I asked for!

Twila Stierwalt
Twila Stierwalt I love this, God does not say we are not going to have troubles, but does say, not to worry about them. We are to trust Him and let Him be in charge. God wants us to work with Him, and worrying is not working with Him. He does want us to trust Him.

Nell Neathery
Nell Neathery Amen!  I was with a worrier for 6 months until this past Thursday evening at 4 p.m. (National Day of Repentance).  Jesus is the Word from God that has changed everything for me since then.  Trusting God to walk with Jesus through the Holy Spirit.  Thinking and talking in a negative way is unhealthy for anyone, especially between a man and a woman.  :-)

Carol Lester
Carol Lester This really hit home today. My daughter is really going through a tough situation right now and she keeps saying just wait until August and it will be all over. She is really relying on her faith right now. I raised my kids in church and taught them about Jesus and she is handling this situation better than I am. Thank you for your words today. I think Jesus is talking to me this morning. So I am going to lay it in His hands.

He will never leave or forsake you or leave you alone. He will come to your needs and will make the way out of no way. I have seen this so many times in my life. He has never failed me. Trusting Jesus is all that matters.

Cheryl Hepler
Cheryl Hepler Yes...yes....yes...Recently while doing finances at home I felt very strong to say "Yes", Lord, it is yours!  I said to my husband that the money to fix the several cement steps including two walls on each side were too much for me to keep thinking about so I gave it to the Lord.  He said oh & we are at peace.  Pay checks come and go many places & one more bill was overload.  We have an orange cone on the stairs as someone could hurt theirselves.  We use another entrance.  I love Matt:6:(Message Bible) 33& 34. Don't worry about missing out.  You'll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.  Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or my not happen tomorrow.  God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes. God's word is like medicine to me.....I have to keep taking it & swallowing it daily if hourly to keep a right thinking focus on His words.  Prayer & fellowship with other Christians also which I call the "hands & feet" to carry me as in a "stretcher".   Reading about Jesus praying the third time in the garden before His crucifixion where He fell to His knees from overwhelming fear in His human self grabbed me to truly know He understands us. Blessings in your day all of you....a beautiful Spring day!
