Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:33 NKJV
We sat quietly at the table while we ate our food. Normally we talked and laughed, but tonight we were both worried about tomorrow. We had found a lien on our property for a tax bill that we never owed, but it had accumulated late fees until it was more than we had. Disputing it was going to be a challenge in the least because it was a decade old.
What could we do? We called the state tax office to begin a dispute and they explained that the record was so old that it had been archived and removed from their system. They would have to restore it from a backup and it would be an overnight process, so we had to call back tomorrow.
We just sat down together and prayed over it, and got an impression to Say nothing negative. It was the only word for that day so we stood on it and just said nothing at all because my every thought was negative. It was very difficult to not whine and complain and talk about all the different scenarios and the what if that may happen. We managed to restrain ourselves and ate our food silently.
After a night of silence, the next day came and we called them back. To our surprise, the tax office had cleared the lien and we owed them nothing. They took care of all of the paperwork and explained that because we never owed the original tax bill we did not owe the late fees and penalties either.
Do not worry about tomorrow. Pray and try to follow the Lord as best you can today, and let tomorrow worry about itself. One word from God changes everything. Many times, the things that we are worried about never even come to pass, and what you worry about today, may never happen. Trust God instead.
