If you died with Christ from the elements of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to ordinances, "Don't handle, nor taste, nor touch" (all of which perish with use), according to the precepts and doctrines of men? These things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imp...

An extraordinary event unfolds in Matthew chapter 14, one that is unparalleled elsewhere in the Bible: a common fisherman defying the laws of nature by walking on water. Fire in the Rain

  • Let us acknowledge Yahweh. Let us press on to know Yahweh. As surely as the sun rises, Yahweh will appear. He will come to us like the rain, Like the spring rain that waters the earth. Hosea 6:3 WEB

During the long hot summer of the south, the fields can sometimes get so dry that the crops appear dead. The one thing that they need to restore life and make everything right, is a good rain shower. Once the rain comes, the fields quickly spring back to life, and the plants start growing again.

There was a season in my life where I became borderline burnout. We had overly served at church for several years, and it was just too much of a good thing. The harvest truly was plentiful, but the laborers were certainly few, and a lot of those seemed lazy. It became a dry and cynical time in my life.

Some friends invited us to a Christian conference about three hours away, and we reluctantly agreed to go. The conference lasted for three days. On the first day we joined the meeting and it opened with great praise and worship, followed by an anointed message. By the end of the day, I was feeling some better.

The second day was the same and soon I began to feel something inside of me coming back to life, like a fire being breathed on. By the end of the third day, I was completely refreshed with a renewed vision for our life, and fresh word from the Lord. I left that conference walking on air, refreshed, and thrilled to be alive. I caught fire, in His rain.

Many times in scripture, God's presence is compared to rain on a dry and thirsty land. It is the one thing that can bring healing, satisfaction, and life where there is none. Hopes and dreams that were thought long dead, will suddenly spring back to life. There is nothing else like being in the presence of the Lord.

Our lives can get so busy, so full, and yet at the same time, so empty. There is only one thing that will make everything right: Spending time in the Lord's presence. As we spend time with Him, He makes the rest work out for us. He gives us clarity and fills the emptiness. It is truly like a replenishing rain.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please send Your rain on me. Rekindle the fire within me and breath Your presence on my life Lord. I want more of You. I want to actually live it, and not just talk about it. Do whatever it takes, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people" (Ephesians 6:18). If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network
