RHM Devotional: The Missing Bread from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about the lack of provision, and all the things that seem to come with it. When we are faced with the lack of something, we tend to look at ourselves, what can “we” do, in our strength, an...

Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea, as Yahweh spoke to me; and we encircled Mount Seir many days. • Or who is there among you, who, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, who will give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! Matthew 7:9 WEB

Many people that I talk with have a problem trusting, or drawing near to our heavenly Father, because their own earthly fathers mistreated them, abused them, abandoned them, or made them feel worthless. As they grew up, they built a wall between them and their fathers to protect themselves, and they find it difficult to trust him.

Fortunately, I had the world's greatest dad. He has passed on now, but my brothers and I had those words inscribed on his tombstone: 'The World's Greatest Dad' between an engraving of a hammer and a saw, because he was a carpenter.

My dad had a hard life, and by the time he was twelve years old, he was on his own. He lived in a share cropper's barn at night and worked the fields during the day. Later, he learned carpentry, got married and had three sons. I was the youngest. Mom left before my first birthday, but dad struggled to raise his three sons on his own and even after we were grown, he would check on each of his sons every day. If one of of us was building a porch, he was there to help. If another of us was changing a transmission, then he wanted to be under the car with you.

Dad was always there, always wanted the best for us, and to the letter, if he promised you something, he would do it, whether that was good or bad. He always taught us that we could do anything that we set our mind to do, whether it was building a house or rebuilding an engine, anything was possible. He would take the time to show you how if you asked him, or if he had never done it, then we would figure it out together.

When I came to know our heavenly Father, I found that they had a lot in common, and for me it was a pretty easy transition. If my own earthly dad told me that he would do something, he would do it. If I asked him for help, he would help. Would my heavenly Father do less?

Our heavenly Father is all of the good and so much more, with none of the bad. He is always there for us and He only wants the best for us all the time. He will help us, teach us, and give us the resources to fulfill our dreams. If we don't have a dream, then He will give us one of those to. He rejoices in our victories and He loves to see us over come the obstacles in our life and learn from them. Our Father loves us, and He only wants the best for His children. You can safely put Your trust in Him.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank You for being there for me when I need You. I pray that You show Yourself strong in my life, strengthen me, and help me overcome the challenges that I face. Draw my heart to You and break down the walls between us, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Chron 7:14). If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network

Amen! No where does the Bible say you will have a rose garden, but it does say you can have the desires of your heart. All you have to do is Love God. I think that is amazing1

Amen. My earthly dad passed away at the age of 49. I was just 18 yrs old. Then within the next five years I became adopted by Abba Father, when I first believed in Jesus as my savior. I have had the most loving and watchful and caring Father who stepped in and took my earthly dad's place. He became the Father of this fatherless child and I am so blessed to be His Daughter. Jesus is my brother in heaven and my King of all Kings. I am a royal heir and I have an inheritance awaiting me in my Father's house. No greater priviledge is there than to be under the shelter of His mighty wings and included in His royal family!
