I sought for a man among them, who should build up the wall, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found none. Ezekiel 22:30 WEBWhen the Lord planned to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 18:24), Abraham stood in the gap and asked God if He would destroy it if there were fifty righteous men there. God said that He would not.
Then Abraham asked what if there were forty-five righteous people, forty, thirty, twenty, ten, and then he stopped. It appears that God would have kept going as long as He had someone to intercede for them. Abraham was the one that stopped at ten.
God seeks intercessors that will pray for the nation, and for each other. If you have someone who is lost, do not stop praying for them. Jesus told us 'No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up in the last day' (John 6:44). So pray for the Lord to draw their hearts to Him.
Remember also to pray for the nation that you live in. You live there, and if it prospers, you will prosper as well. 'Seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to Yahweh for it; for in the peace of it shall you have peace' (Jeremiah 29:7).
If you know the Lord today, chances are that someone has stood in the gap for you already. Now your prayer could be the one thing that changes everything for someone else. God is still seeking those who will stand in the gap for others and intercede for them.
Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank You for saving me, now please draw the rest of my family to You. May my whole family come to know and love you, for all things are possible with You. Put the lost in my path and the words in my mouth to speak, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.Note: Ladies, today is Thankful Thursday at the "Ladies in Distress" group (our RHM women's group)! I’m praying for my Grandchildren dear God. Make a way for them. In the name of Jesus. Amen
As someone who feels that I more closely affiliate with those who are lost but attempting to seek the Lord, I pray for all who are lost, whether they wish to seek the Lord or not, that if our attempts to find Him are unfruitful, that He finds us and leads us to Him. "This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." 1 Timothy ch 2 vs 3-4.
AMEN
Amen and Amen! Oh Lord, my God, may this prayer be mine as well, today, tomorrow, until I stand before YOU. Please fill me, lead me, give me the right words to say, and instruct me in the actions I should take to stand in the gap, for I can do nothing without YOU! For it is in the precious name of Jesus Christ I ask and pray, Amen!
