Then Mordecai asked them to return this answer to Esther: "Don't think to yourself that you will escape in the king's house any more than all the Jews. For if you remain silent now, then relief and deliverance will come to the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. Who...

In the same hour, the fingers of a man's hand came out and wrote near the lamp stand on the plaster of the wall of the king's palace. The king saw the part of the hand that wrote. Then the king's face was changed in him, and his thoughts troubled him; and the joints of his thighs were loosened, and ...

One of the criminals who was hanged insulted him, saying, "If you are the Christ, save yourself and us!" But the other answered, and rebuking him said, "Don't you even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward for our deeds, but this ma...

Sleepless Nights

  • Which of you by being anxious can add a cubit to his height? If then you aren't able to do even the least things, why are you anxious about the rest? Luke 12:25 WEB

We were so concerned about tomorrow that we could not sleep. We had received a subpoena late that evening and had to appear in court at seven in the morning, but so many things ran through our mind that we watched the sun go down, and then come back up. It turned out that all the worry was for nothing because the case was thrown out. God came through, but I had worn myself out.

Today has arrived, and it is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday. It is here now, and if you are reading this, then you are still here as well. There have been many sleepless nights in my life when I have been worried about what was going to happen the next day, only to find that it came to nothing. God took care of it overnight, or I lived through it and it became part of my testimony that I share with others.

When you dwell on what may come, it will grow bigger and bigger until it consumes you. What you feed in the garden of your mind will grow, whether it is fear or faith. So deal with today's problems today, and leave tomorrow's alone. The grace of God comes when you need it, not in advance. You will have the grace to deal with tomorrow when it gets here.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I pray that You move in my life, show Yourself strong, deliver me from the things that hold me back. Please fulfill Your will in my life and protect me from those that seek to do me harm, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Amen! This one scripture helped me over come anxiety. Matthew 6:33 gives you the answer to the riddle. It says; "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you." If we truly want to overcome our anxiety, we must allow God to bring His own righteousness into our lives, the we will live in His kingdom.

Amen! Thank you for this devotion. I too have been kept up most of the night by needless worries. Your mind plays tricks on you and the more you dwell on these worries the worse you feel. Satan is great at tricking us by telling us things that cause us fear. We only need to pray and take it to God and ask Him to guide us and to give us peace to sleep and to do His will without fear.
