When he came down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. Behold, a leper came to him and worshiped him, saying, "Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean." Jesus stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, "I want to. Be made clean." Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. Matthew 8...

Hope in the Dark from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. How can you have hope while living in a dark time? When you feel like what you are facing is so powerful, all you can do is pray. Many before us did, and we can learn from their examples.  First, if you read the New Testament, you'l...

Then the devil took him into the holy city. He set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, 'He will command his angels concerning you,' and, 'On their hands they will bear you up, so that you don't dash your foot against...

Take Another Lap

  • The cock crowed the second time. Peter remembered the word, how that Jesus said to him, 'Before the cock crows twice, you will deny me three times.' When he thought about that, he wept. Mark 14:72 WEB

Peter told Jesus that he would rather die than deny Him, but that night he denied that he knew Jesus three times in a row. He was scared. Sometime later Peter mastered this fear. When he was later crucified by Nero, he asked to be upside down, because he saw himself as unworthy to be crucified in the same way as Jesus. Peter stopped denying the Lord, and died for Him just as he had promised.

We do not face the weaknesses that we have just once, but multiple times, until we master it. It is not 'once clean, always clean' either. I have seen people fall right back into something that they crawled out of more than once. If you lose your temper every time someone does something, you will face that something time and time again until you beat it.

A good friend of mine called it 'Taking another lap around the mountain.' Just as Israel spent forty years circling the same mountain in the wilderness, we can spend forty years of our life circling the same mountain.

Learn from the things that upset you or cause you to stumble. Be on guard, for like Cain, sin crouches at the door and it desires to have you. When you feel it coming, face it with a smile and the right attitude. Pass the test. When you beat it, chances are that you will never have to face it again, or we can take another lap.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I am weary of facing this same problem again and again. Forgive me and please give me the grace and wisdom to deal with this once and for all. Guide me and help me make the right decisions. Give me a clear warning when the test is coming and let me be prepared, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Ladies, today is Thankful Thursday at the "Ladies in Distress" group (our RHM women's group)! This is so true! I have also found myself in the same trial over and over because I didnt understand what the trial was about or what God wanted me to learn from it. When I finally did understand and respond to God, the trial ended and God blessed me greatly! God is so great and merciful to us. He loves us so much and He provides for us! We do not deserve His love or His mercy but he willing gives us all things because of His great love for us.
