The Vineyard from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. I have always admired Amos, who was a shepherd in a field when the Lord told him to go and prophesy to King Jeroboam in Bethel. The priest Amaziah told him to prophesy somewhere else. They weren't interested in what the Lord had to say, but A...

for a righteous man falls seven times and rises up again, but the wicked are overthrown by calamity. Proverbs 24:16 WEB.Once again, I was the one who promised he would never do it again, then went and did it again. I had slowly drifted away one more time. Then Satan answered Yahweh, and said, "Does Job fear God for nothing? Haven't you made a hedge around him, and around his house, and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth your hand now, and touch all t...

Align with the Divine

  • Then Yahweh spoke to the fish, and it vomited out Jonah on the dry land. Yahweh's word came to Jonah the second time, saying, 'Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach to it the message that I give you.' So Jonah arose, and went to Nineveh Jonah 2:10 WEB

Jonah landed on the beach and stood up, covered in fish vomit. The giant fish had puked him onto the beach and He probably wanted to go back to the water and rinse off, but he knew that the huge fish was still out there. That would have been a deterrent for me. As Jonah stood there contemplating that, the word of the Lord came to him a second time to go preach to Nineveh. This time, Jonah went.

There will be times when you don't have a choice in whether you will do it or not. When Moses pleaded with God repeatedly to send someone else, God repeatedly refused and sent him. When Jonah ran away from what the Lord had told him to do, the Lord brought him back on the fish express.

Saul the Christian persecutor was struck blind on the road to Damascus, and then he became Paul the apostle. We like to believe and say that God will not intrude on our life, after all, we are in charge. Then we read about these three, and many more just like them.

When I was young, the Lord told me that I would be in the ministry, and to prepare myself. So I enrolled in Bible college and earned a degree. When I graduated, every door into the ministry was firmly closed. About twenty-five years passed by, and I ended up working on computers and networks for most of it.

Somewhere along the way, I gave up on ever being in the ministry, and I moved on with my life. I had many reasons why it never happened, I must have wrecked His plans for me somehow, had one sin too many. Eventually I was no longer interested in ministry and it never crossed my mind. Then suddenly our business dried up, and like cattle herded through a loading chute, I found myself herded into the ministry, and here I am. No one was more surprised than me.

Sometimes, God will not take no for an answer. You can run away, but He will bring you back. You can put your focus on something else, and it will disappear. You will have to align yourself with His will, and go where He wants. It is always better to find what He wants and work with Him, than to try and make Him work for you.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I submit to You. Use me, guide me, and put me where I need to be. Speak to me in a way that I understand and I will gladly follow You. Open my mind to the scriptures like You did the disciples on the road to Emmaus, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: "I call on you, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my prayer" (Psalm 17:6) If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network

For years I have been a Cosmetologist since 2004. I have worked in the field of Cosmetology off and on. It was hard for me to build a clientele in the past because I moved around a lot. Now my clients are returning and I have been there about six weeks. For that I am grateful. In the past I tried to find different career avenues but nothing else worked out for me besides writing my Memoir. The blessed part about it is that people love my hair styles and that makes my heart happy. I have always wanted to be a famous author and write books. My book only sold five copies so far but I still want to publish more books. I want to be able to make good money in Cosmetology and have my own beauty supply store one day. I tried many times to leave the Cosmetology field only to be brought back and start over again. Prayfully this time works out for the better. I now work at the JC Penny Salon in Waldorf MD. I am grateful for the opportunity.
