Pilate therefore said to him, 'Aren't you speaking to me? Don't you know that I have power to release you, and have power to crucify you?' Jesus answered, 'You would have no power at all against me, unless it were given to you from above. Therefore he who delivered me to you has greater sin.' John 19 WEBBeaten and bloody, wearing a purple robe and a crown made out of thorns, Jesus quietly listened to Pilate speak. When He did not answer Pilate's question, Pilate began to tell Jesus that he had authority to set Him free, or to crucify Him. When Pilate finished, Jesus told him that he would have no authority over Him at all unless it had been given to him from above.
Jesus recognized where He was, and that this was no accident. No man had authority over Him unless it had been given to them from above. No one could take His life from Him, unless His Father in heaven allowed it. The Humble King of Kings submitted to His Father's will, and He endured the cross.
When Job went through his trial, satan had to get permission from God first before he could touch him. Job was a righteous man and God had placed a hedge of protection around him, his house, and all that he had (Job 1:10). A much stronger hedge would have been around Jesus. They could only harm Him, if God allowed them to do so.
The ones in authority over you today are allowed to be there by God. No one can touch or lay a hand on you without your Father's permission to do so. I know things happen that we do not understand, like Stephen being martyred (Acts 7:59). We have to remember that we cannot see the whole picture as He can. So until the Lord tells you otherwise, prayerfully submit to those in leadership over you, for they would not be there without His permission. Great servants, can also become great leaders.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me to see Your hand on my life. Give me a clear vision of Your will for me and the grace to accomplish it today, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.Note: Good morning! We have to remember that we cannot see the whole picture as He can. So until the Lord tells you otherwise, prayerfully submit to those in leadership over you. OK, I have a slight problem with this paragraph, I understand I don't have the full picture but to submit to those in leadership, (my boss) I believe he is as equal has I am. Am I wrong , am in taking this out of content? I mean I won't be disrespectful, but I don't agree. Any input would be nice, thanks Gloria
Gloria, does he sign your paycheck?
Hi Gloria! I don't believe "prayerfully submit to those in leadership" means that you are not equal to him as a person or a citizen - you are :)! "Submit" also doesn't encompass more than the authority given. In the case of your boss, he does have authority in your work-related activities, e.g. the location of your workstation, the daily work tasks you are given, etc. In those cases, you would not be equal - he is the boss :). On the other hand, he would not have authority to harass you in any way, nor do you have any duty to submit to that.
Thank you Sylvia for putting this in perspective, I couldn't wrap my head around that word. You and Pastor are heaven sent! Blessings always Gloria
Aww, we are blessed to know you too, my sister!
Amen! Thank you Heavenly Father for a hedge of protection over myself and my family and friends. I ask for a hedge of protection over our president and all the people working with him. Thank you Lord.
Dear God keep us in your loving care. Amen.
Amen! I heard a preacher say that we give Satan too much credit, he is not able to do anything to you unless God has given His permision. Remember what God said to Job. He said; "Where were you when I created the Earth and all you see?" I understand I took that out of context a little, but I think it gets to the meaning of what He said!
Good one Pastor! Thanks!
