If you died with Christ from the elements of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to ordinances, "Don't handle, nor taste, nor touch" (all of which perish with use), according to the precepts and doctrines of men? These things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imp...

While they were there, the day had come for her to give birth. She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a feeding trough, because there was no room for them in the inn. Walk on Water from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. An extraordinary event unfolds in Matthew chapter 14, one that is unparalleled elsewhere in the Bible: a common fisherman defying the laws of nature by walking on water. This miraculous feat wasn't performed by Jesus, but rather by Peter, a ...

A Basket Case

  • Pharaoh's daughter came down to bathe at the river. Her maidens walked along by the riverside. She saw the basket among the reeds, and sent her handmaid to get it. She opened it, and saw the child, and, behold, the baby cried. She had compassion on him, and said, 'This is one of the Hebrews' children.' Then his sister said to Pharaoh's daughter, 'Should I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for you?' Pharaoh's daughter said to her, 'Go.' Exodus 2:4 WEB

Jochebed gently placed her three-month-old son Moses into a basket, and then launched him into the river. She knew that if she tried to keep him that he would be discovered and killed. She desperately wanted to save him. If there was ever an accidental birth with bad timing, Moses was it. At that time, Pharaoh had ordered that all male Hebrew children were to be thrown into the Nile river at birth, and they became food for the crocodiles.

Mose's mother came up with a plan to place her son in the Nile river like Pharaoh commanded, but to use a basket. I guess Pharaoh was not specific. The crazy plan was actually inspired by the Holy Spirit, and she obeyed. The baby Moses was soon found floating in the Nile by Pharaoh's daughter. His mother was summoned and then paid wages to nurse her own child. Instead of being killed, Moses was raised and educated by the royal Egyptian family. In his mother's greatest dreams, she would have not thought this was possible for her son.

Jochebed loved her child, but she had to let him go and God took care of him better than she ever could have. God gave him a college education and made him into a great prophet. Moses became the most powerful man on earth, and the most humble. Any mother would have been proud to have a son like Moses for he turned out well.

There are no accidental births in the Kingdom of God. You are not an accident anymore than Moses floating down the Nile river, and if you are pregnant, the child that you carry was given to you by God. He is able to go beyond your greatest dreams if you will only obey His gentle promptings along the way. He can turn the weak and humble into a force to be reckoned with. He can make a way, when there appears to be no way.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, Your word tells us that Your sheep hear Your voice (John 10:27). I pray that You teach me to hear Your voice better. Guide me, teach me, mold me. Come into my heart and lead me into all that you have for me today, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

I had a baby at 45 years old. She is a joy to my life and a sweet, caring, loving five year old.  She was no accidental life but planned by God.   She is suffering because she lives in 2 homes.  Please pray for my sweet 6 year old this Easter that God will give her the grace to bear her sufferings if having divorced parents in two homes.  Thank you All and have a very Happy Easter. Praise the lord for he has risen!!  Alleluia!  Alleluia!!
