Yahweh opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, "What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?" Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, "Don't fight with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel." Forgiveness is for You

  • If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 ESV

So there I sat in my prayer room, feeling washed up and wondering why I was there at all that day. After going through a drawn out messy divorce, I didn't go to church at all and rarely prayed. I felt that the Lord was done with me. I had let Him down and the whole church as well. Yep, 'those days are finished', I thought.

I thought there may be hell in my future, but at least I was free from the hell on earth. As I sat there thinking on this, I flipped open my Bible and it fell on Rom 11:29: 'For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.' I pondered this a moment and thought what if I have not trashed God's plan for me?

I prayed about this over the next week, and that is exactly how He felt. Sure, God hates divorce, but He is divorced as well (Jer. 3:8). He's been there. He was waiting on me to get up from my bed of self condemnation and I learned that I can be forgiven as well. We all fall, but not all get up, and the church has become skilled at keeping you down after a divorce.

We all know that others can be forgiven, but often when we stumble, we just don't see it for us. When you fall, get up. God is not angry with you. He does not take back His gifts or His calling because you stumble. His plan is still on for your life and you are the only one that can stop that. Forgiveness is for you as well.

Prayer: Father, please show me areas of my life where I need to accept Your forgiveness. Set me free from my past, restore what the enemy has taken from me Lord, in the name of Jesus.

Amen to that, Pastor Dion! We all have sinned, we all fall short of His glory, that includes me as well. But He is faithful, longsuffering and forgiving. We have a future because of Him, Praise the Lord forever more!!! Thank you Pastor Dion for your testimonies and inspired messages, and thank you Lord for taking my sins upon You so I can be forgiven, so I can see you "Face to Face", and may this day come soon according to Your will, In Jesus name!

As always, Praising God for your wonderful messages of hope and deliverance.  I frequently repost your prayers, many people appreciate them, as do I. YES, I, too, experienced "challenges" in the church after divorce; additionally the church has been a difficult place to be accepted as my history includes alcoholism (45 years sobriety), and mental illness.  And then there was the matter of my two sons--one addicted to Heroin, the other to alcohol.  Praise God we are all recovered, one son asst. pastor in a mega church, director of music/worship, and other son has keyboard music ministry at his church.  God continues to strengthen me to provide music for Bible Study weekly and Memorial Services in my Retirement Community.  There is NOTHING too hard for the Lord.  And we are also celebrating youngest son's (60 yrs.) full recovery from 4th stage cancer.  I frequently forward your devotions to him as well.
