Blessed is the man who doesn't walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the way of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers; But his delight is in Yahweh's law; On his law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, That brings forth its fruit in its se...

Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you. Don't quench the Spirit. Don't despise prophesies. When he came down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. Behold, a leper came to him and worshiped him, saying, "Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean." Jesus stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, "I want to. Be made clean." Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. Matthew 8...

Skeletons in The Closet

  • The man said, 'They have left here, for I heard them say, 'Let's go to Dothan.' ' Joseph went after his brothers, and found them in Dothan. They saw him afar off, and before he came near to them, they conspired against him to kill him. They said to one another, 'Behold, this dreamer comes. Come now therefore, and let's kill him, and cast him into one of the pits, and we will say, 'An evil animal has devoured him.' We will see what will become of his dreams.' Genesis 37:17 WEB

Joseph had it all. He was his father's favorite, God had given him dreams showing that he would be a ruler, his father had given him an ornate coat of many colors, and he was a wealthy prince. Yea Joseph's life should have been great, but his brothers were very jealous. Most of them wanted to kill him. Reuben tried to save him and got him thrown into an empty well. The only thing that stopped them from killing Joseph was his brother Judah who told them, 'after all he is our brother, our own flesh', so they compromised and sold him as a slave.

Joseph was just a boy and he had no control over this. He was just doing what his father had told him. It was not his fault that bad things were done to him by others, even his loved ones, his immediate family. He was not at fault, and his father still loved him dearly. Joseph went from being a prince to a dark pit, to being a slave, to being falsely accused of attempted rape, then serving time in prison.

Joseph's life went into a downward spiral. It was a very dark time for him, but his story does not end there. Eventually, Joseph became the ruler of Egypt, second only to Pharaoh himself, and all those dreams that God had given him, they came true.

When people are abused as a child they often blame themselves. Things that happened to you when you were young, were not your fault. You had no control over that! So lay it down. Like Joseph, forgive, and in doing so you will free yourself as well. Do not let things that happened years ago, that you had no control over, drain your energy today. Your Father loves you and wants you to focus on your future, not your unchangeable past.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank You that I am breathing today. Please help me follow the dreams that You have given me. Bring them back to my memory and inspire me. Make what is important to You, important to me. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Good morning! We will be continuing to the next chapter of our online Bible Study tomorrow morning, but for those who would like to catch up, here is the link to all of the chapters. You are welcome to start any time :)! Bible Study

Amen! If I could only say one thing in this world, it would be that you can never change the past. The past is already gone, God is aware of your past. If He knows how many hairs are on your head, it seems logical He is aware of everything that happens. You can not change the past, you can do something about the future. Live in today!

My past does not define me, I am a new person in Christ. I am forever changed, not the same, and I need to only focus ahead to a glorious eternity with my King of Kings!
