Anchor of the Soul from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. When people lose hope, they lie down and die. They lose the will to live and fight any longer. Hopelessness is utter despair, the belief that nothing good will happen. When you begin to think like this, it will bring a desire to die. A ...

The Pharisees and the scribes asked him, "Why don't your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?" Scary Movies

  • For this cause, I remind you that you should stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. 2 Timmothy 1:6 WEB

Have you ever felt a sense of dread come over you? Have you been afraid of that monster in the closet or under your bed? My older brother who had the driver's license, was a serious horror movie fan and I must have seen every one released while growing up. Do not let that happen to your children. For years, I paid the price and I still despise them today. Why would someone do that with a chainsaw?

After I started drawing closer to God, He revealed to me that fear is rooted in not trusting Him. Though it can be a very powerful enemy to overcome, He is the ultimate power. Faith is believing that God will protect you. Fear is believing that He will not.

Often it is because we feel that we have let Him down, that God is mad at us and we may get punished, but God removes our past sins away from us just like they never happened. If you grew up like I did and your brain was trained to think a certain way, it can take a while to retrain your thought patterns. I had to memorize this verse and say it often. God didn't give us a spirit of fear.

God's Holy Spirit gives us power, love and a sound, disciplined mind, which is the complete opposite of fear and panic. Resist the devil and he will flee from you (James 4:7). Let your mind be renewed and take on the mind of Christ. If God is for us, who can stand against us? Think positive and do not dwell on what may happen, because it may not. Put your trust in Him and do not try and work it all out in your mind. God knows the end from beginning and He is well able to prepare you for what is coming. Don't be scared.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank You for being there for me. Please remove the fear from my life and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Let me walk in faith and power and be a part of what You are doing on this earth, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Chron 7:14). If you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network

Amen I think we all wrestle with fear from time to time. The best way to put fear in a guillotine hold is to come to Jesus and admit that you are wrestling with it. Be honest with Jesus, simply tell Him you are afraid and ask Him to remove your fear and strengthen your belief. He will do just that if you just come to Him and say Help me Jesus, I am afraid, forgive me my fear and give me courage and let me trust fully in You!

My relatives were all very fearful, anxious people--yet they atended Mass every Sunday and claimed to be devout Catholics.I was getting mixed messages about religion and it wasn't until later in life that I began to understand what it means to really know the Lord.

Oh I love this devotion!!!  I tell everyone that is constantly reminding to  be careful, (which I am), not to go here or there after dark, or warning of the dangers that lurk around me, that I'm not afraid, God has not given me a spirit of fear...and one particular person tells me over and over...no, but you have to use common sense.....I understand that, I do as that's the only degree I possess is a "common sense degree"....haha..Anyway, I can't have a spirit of fear.   I feel like it would ruin my life.  I trust God in everything.  I do get "scared" or "concerned" at times about things breaking in my house, or my car messing up but I know God is my provider and He always makes a way when I can't see a way.  I prayed over my property line walking from one end to the other and all around when I learned I'd moved next door to a drug house.  I'm telling you, it makes a difference.  There's not enough space here to type everything that has gone wrong in this house since I bought it a year ago.  But, I prayed about the purchase, God gave me this house, and even though these things keep messing up, I can't go against what God provided for me.  I don't know why I'm here, don't know what He's got for me to do, but I will continue to trust Him.  I'm not always strong and uplifted when things hit me, but I don't fear!!!  I thank God for that....I will not fear, I will not be afraid, I will continue to talk to the devil and tell him to flee....I'm a child of Utmost King....(talking to myself here).  Life is tough, I struggle financially, sometimes physically, but God always is faithful.  Sorry so long, just felt impressed to share.  Thank you for this wonderful devotion and all of them!!!  I sure feel the Spirit!!!
