Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him. Now the Philistines had taken God's ark, and they brought it from Ebenezer to Ashdod. The Philistines took God's ark, and brought it into the house of Dagon and set it by Dagon. Forgotten Promises

  • Behold, today I am going the way of all the earth. You know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good things which Yahweh your God spoke concerning you. All have happened to you. Not one thing has failed of it. Joshua 23:14 WEB

When I was young, the Lord spoke to my heart and told me that one day, I would be in the ministry, and to begin to prepare myself for it. I decided that I would not seek the ministry myself, but that I would wait for the Lord to open the door. I figured that if God wanted me to do it, then He was able make it happen. I do believe that it is 'Who you know' that opens the door for you, and that person is Jesus.

So I began to prepare like He said and eagerly went through Bible college, working during the day, going to school at night, and playing in a band on the weekends. During that time, I had one evening a week free, the other six required me to be at school, a gig, or at church where I served on the praise team.

When I finally graduated and became ordained, expecting to go into ministry like He had said, I found that every single door in ministry was supernaturally closed. Even when people would invite me to speak, they would cancel right before, often the night before, usually after I had prayed and fasted about the message for a week. Time marched onward.

I found myself working on computers for the majority of the next twenty years. Eventually I began to feel that I had just misinterpreted His message and missed Him, or perhaps I had ruined His plan for me somehow. I had a list of reasons why He never put me in ministry. Maybe I had been found lacking somehow, possibly I had one sin too many, and He had gotten someone else. I had given Him plenty of reasons over the years.

Long after I stopped thinking about ministry and forgot His promise, the computer business door suddenly closed, and I found myself pushed into the ministry like cattle being herded through a loading chute. One morning, I went into my prayer room and sat down on a bean bag, where I usually prayed. When I did, I had an open vision, like a movie screen opening up before me, and I saw myself entering a boxing ring and putting on the gloves. That Friday, I was a pastor.

Like Moses, by now I had given up and I just wanted Him to send someone else, so He made it the only path available to me. At the beginning of the week, we were out of work and preparing to move out of our home. At the end of the week, I was a pastor. It was not what I would call a choice, but here I am today in ministry using the skills that He taught me along the way. He prepared me to build an online church, and I mean literally, for it is me pulling the wires under the building.

Be encouraged. The Lord loves you, and if He makes a promise to you about something, you can count on it coming to pass. It began as an 'I just know that I know' type of thing at first and then He confirmed His word through several other people that prophesied over me. Though it may take a while in our time, it is so beautiful to see His plans come together in your life and well worth any delay that you may face. Keep putting God first in your life and watch His word come to pass.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank You for always remembering Your promises. You are the Promise Keeper, and I trust You with my life. Walk with me today and teach me to recognize Your voice, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Such a good message for me to read this morning. I was Ordained in June. I have and still want to pursue a ministry in “prayer”. Ever since you made that commitment to God. Satan has attacked me with my health. I know God’s Protection is over me. I know I Gabe to be still. My daughter is waiting to be Ordained. This is where I feel she hasn’t pursued her dreams. God’s promises are real. I know God has it all planned out. In his timing, not mine

Jeremiah 29:11. For I know the plans I have for you; to prosper you, not to harm you, but to give you Hope and a Future.

Dear Father, sometimes I feel discouraged thinking of the things I want to do for You. Always forgetting that You are training me for better and that Your promises will come in due time. Give me the courage to know the meaning of the word WAIT, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.
