The Mercedes

  • Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs out now. Don't you know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:19 WEB

A wealthy friend of mine once picked up his daughter's car to take it in for an oil change while she was at work. He stayed gone a really long time, and she began to be anxious and to worry about them both. Eventually, he returned driving a new Mercedes that he had bought her. The new car was much better than her old one, and her anxiety was all for nothing. Her car was just being upgraded.

Change is something that makes us uncomfortable and we often resist it, but in order for the new to come to pass, the old has to pass away. If you want a better car, or a better job, usually the old one has to go first. We would like the change to happen at once, like trading our car in for another on the same day, or starting another job on Monday.

In my experience though, God will clear out the old first, and then bring in the new. This can be scary and it will test your trust while you are living through it, but when it is done it will all make sense. Later when you are looking back on it, you will see that it could not have been planned any better.

Many times I have wondered 'Well, what am I going to do now?' but He managed to take care of me and eventually the next door would open up. What you have lost, is not gone. It is being upgraded by your Father. Be thankful that He is taking care of it.

Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank You so much for remembering me today. I need You more than ever. Please straighten out my thinking, speak to me and through me, and put me where I need to be. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Thank you for these wise words today. I've been dealing with crummy internet reception for a while now & I know this sounds silly or trivial but, I hadn't wanted to have the internet company come out & "fix" anything because I was afraid that they'd only make it worse or delay my online duties further.  The company is coming out today & I've been stressed about it, but, with this devotional, I am reassured that God's got this & that there's nothing wrong with a little change or "upgrade" LOL

Perfect words today as I prepare to close as a 1st time homeowner next week.  It took a long time to get here, through my own rebel ways and poor choices.. The Lord has indeed been with me everystep of the way, yet I am scared to move from my apartment I have been in for the last 5 years even though there is No equity.  I question if I am doing the right thing or not, yet have prayed about this awhile and All doors are opening.  The Best thing I and everyone else can do is pray, put one foot in front of the other and let God guide us..... I've asked God to let me crawl under a Rock until this is over (my beloved Aunt also has a cancerous tumor which will be removed tomorrow), but God said, I will place you on Top on the Rock...  Breathe and Trust... Our Lord is a Mighty Savior~

Great message!  Sometimes we don't see the good in what He does.  At least not until later.  I try to remember to think past the moment & think that something better is on the way if we just trust & believe!

Thanks for the message Pastor Dion! I'm already "upgraded" through the blood of the Lamb, the Lamb of God, cleansed by His blood, His rightousness placed upon me and adopted into the family of God!!!

So I'm waiting on Him to upgrade and change everyone and everything else around me and renew my spirit!

Coming from a grateful heart !!!
