Agree to Disagree

  • This saying is faithful, and concerning these things I desire that you affirm confidently, so that those who have believed God may be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men; but shun foolish questionings, genealogies, strife, and disputes about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. Titus 3:8 WEB

Years ago, I thought that everyone needed to believe the same thing that I did, and I could make a convincing argument as to why. In Bible College, we often had vigorous discussions about some petty point of doctrine. Yet not once that I remember, did I actually convince anyone of anything except to avoid me when they saw me coming.

Jesus told us to Love God, and to love each other. Yet by large we search out reasons to disagree. It is great to witness, but when you reach a point of disagreement, and it is clear that neither party is going to change their mind, move on to the next topic. It is perfectly fine to disagree. We are all wrong about something, and no one needs our approval to go to heaven. So be nice, and be loving in your conversation.

It has to sadden the Lord to see most of the church busy pointing their fingers at each other, while the world looks on and laughs. We argue amongst ourselves like little spoiled children, accusing each other, while the world goes to hell around us. Heresy has become anything that we don't like, or that we don't agree with.

We don't have to agree on everything. Jesus is Lord, He died for our sins, He was resurrected, and by faith in Him we are saved. If we can agree on this, then let us be happy and not seek out reasons to disagree. Some people eat meat, some do not. Some go to church on Sunday, some do not. Some drink wine, some do not. Some wear dresses, some do not.

People don't have to agree with you to be saved, because you are not God. In a family, the children may not agree or even like one another, but the parents love them all just the same. God loves us all, even those that we don't like.

Do yourself a favor today, and just let the disagreement go. You do not have to be right, and if you are then you should not be so insecure about what others think. If they are wrong, God will fix them sooner or later. Adding more words will usually just broaden the gap between you and them, every single time. Let's agree to disagree.

Prayer: Heavenly Father help me to see the world through Your eyes. Speak to me and through me and give me the grace to keep my mouth shut until the proper time. Give me wisdom and tact in my relationships, and guide my every step, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Amen and thank you for this message today. I am facing a day that I feel is going to be tough. But with God on my side I will face anyone or anything that may go against me. I don't have to prove that I am right or that anyone is wrong. I will be my self and what God has created me to be

This should be pinned, or a stickey message or part of "forum rules."  This is why I avoid so-called "Christians" and if you ever want to see hate and condemnation read the comments on Christian themed YouTube videos.  Jesus said "love each other" and by this the world will know you.  But the world loves each other in comparison while so-called Christians attack each other.  It's an epidemic.

"Jesus said "love each other" and by this the world will know you." If we could remember that more often, it would be a different world.

True and funny...You Tube is helpful yet not God's Word.  I do not like argument.  Mostly peaceful so to hear Him, birds and other sounds I enjoy...like our Bassettes.  Simple pleasures.  Gardening, cooking, reseach to learn something new that is helpful when I am stuck.  God is sooo good!  Can't imagine what I would do without Him.  Before I truly had my veil lifted off my spiritual eyes...I was in and marriage and my children got sick in soul from it all.  I pray God will draw them to Him.  He gave meJer 31:15.  He will bring them back from the land of the enemy.  Amen!  Little rocks for pots and other things I write that verse addresses. Constant reminder of what the Lord said to me in my tears in those days.  They are His as the other three I raised in my new marriage of 27 yrs now.  My life is full.  As a Christian it is never boring.  My husband is a blessing God gave me also!  Blessings to you!

I have often said the Christian Army is the only Army in the world who shoots it's own wounded. Please take a look at your finger tips from the inside, Our God is a God of diversity, not one finger print is the same. That is an identifying mark for every one. Like every finger print is unique, so are you, we are all different, and when we all learn to accept that fact, then we stand a chance to come into UNITY. How powerfull would the Christian Army be if we all came together in love to seek the Father's face?

I know what you mean, Jim, it's terrible to see the lack of unity on His body. In biology, diversity brings strength, so even God's creation is calling out for it. I look forward to the day when we are all walking as one!

I agree, Jim. My mom would always talk about her children when she was ill with cancer. They was all fighting they would come against me all the time and did it all through my life. My brother never did he and I was very close and my husband said we act a like too he loved my brother. He would always say your sisters are mean. My mom would look at me place her hands over her ears, then her eyes and then her mouth. She then put her one finger to her mouth like Shhhh she didn't want any stress on me.  When they was gone I would always love sitting with my mom alone. I was a child that had a hard time always parting with my mom so this time was very hard on me. When we was there alone she said Diane, don't worry what they say. She said I would always look at my hands and my fingers and say my fingers are like my children they're all different all attached yet I know each and every one of them. She said I know what they're like just don't say anything to them. She said that always stops them and they leave. She said they want you to fight back but I never did for the love of my mother and I didn't liek it they would try to make me dry and get weak. My mother was very close to God, all my life and I would always notice things that she would say or do. My daughter even remembers many things about the Lord, and what my mother would say or do. I'm blest that my daughter is very close to God. She's very loving and sweet she learned alot from my mother. She too was my mother's favorite mom said she was always a good child and never gave her any trouble. You would think having a mom llike this that we would have all been in UNITY no just they three sister's. This still hurts me to this day I pray Jesus, that one day they come to know you and fall to their knees and give the Father the love that we should give a Father. In Jesus, name. Amen. <3

It's biblical fact that our Lord Yeshua called fishermen,a tax collector, common men and a former persecutor of the way; to learn from him and spread the good news of salvation to the world. It still amazes me that some so called Christians who hold theological degrees from seminary think that they are more enlightened and look down on the basic believer as lower than themselves. I am thankful for people like you pastor Dion, who are open to the leading of Holy Spirit and God's word itself as the primary source and foundation of that which is useful for teaching, correction and reproof. Just like the apostle Paul said so in Timothy 3:15-17 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God,and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. Read your bible people through prayer. God should be the first one we ask if we come across some part of His word that we don't understand then trust Him to provide the answer. God bless y'all..........

Also, Psalm119:129-130  Thy testimonies are wonderful:therefore doth my soul keep them. The entrance of thy words giveth light;it giveth understanding unto the simple.

When I came into disagreement, I state my reason of "Why" and I rest my case.  Avoid conflict as much as possible for GOD will fix them sooner or later.  The grace and peace of GOD OUR FATHER AND JESUS CHRIST BE WITH US ALL.
