The Vineyard from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. I have always admired Amos, who was a shepherd in a field when the Lord told him to go and prophesy to King Jeroboam in Bethel. The priest Amaziah told him to prophesy somewhere else. They weren't interested in what the Lord had to say, but A...

Proverbs 24:16 WEB.Once again, I was the one who promised he would never do it again, then went and did it again. I had slowly drifted away one more time. I have found that it's easy to make promises...

Then Satan answered Yahweh, and said, "Does Job fear God for nothing? Haven't you made a hedge around him, and around his house, and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth your hand now, and touch all t...

Assembly Required

  • He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. Eccl. 3:11 ESV

I grew up on a farm in the country, but always had a passion for computers. I never actually owned one as we were pretty poor at the time. I prayed a lot for a computer of my own, but did not actually get a computer in the way that others did. Instead, I started 'attracting' computer parts, and even in the country, somehow they found their way to me. A motherboard, some memory, a hard disk, finally a power supply from someone at church.

Eventually I had almost all the parts, but I had no case to put it in. So I grabbed a cardboard box, cut some holes in it, and built my first computer. An Intel 8086 clocked at 5 mhz. It was quite a sight and one of the slowest ever made, but it was perfect! It shaped my future, and I still use those skills each day. God did give me a computer, but assembly was required.

Looking back, there are so many times in my life that if I had gotten what I prayed for, it would have detrimental to my growth. God knows the end from the beginning, and He knows what is best for you. Relax and trust His timing. Sometimes assembly is required for your growth.

Prayer: Father, please give me the things that I need to grow and a fresh vision for the plan that you have for me, in the name of Jesus.

Note: Good morning! If you are in need of prayer, please remember that we are here for you! You can click on the Prayer link on the site menu for private prayer! The link is also in the announcements on the home page. Have a blessed Sunday and Labor Day!

Amen. Our lives are a jigsaw puzzle of millions of pieces all the same shape, yet different colors fitting together painstakingly one piece at a time.

It always amuses me that the Rolling Stones said the same thing--"You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you'll get what you need."

Pastor Dion, I really appreciate this lesson. I built my first personal computer from a kit about the time the TR(a)S(h) 80 came out. I had programmed on main frames from the IBM 650 to the 360 and several other brands that are no longer with us but I was fascinated with the idea of having my very own computer at home. I got a cheap metal desk with a fold down front, a door covered shelf where I put the CPU, and file drawers. I put the monitor and keyboard behind the fold down panel so when it was closed there were no wires visible. Your use of a cardboard box was a clever solution. Your testimony of the way the Lord has worked in your life is the most powerful I can recall. It is crystal clear the Lord has brought you to this ministry to do great things for the Kingdom. I thank you for your prayers, my colitis seems to be under control. Praise God!
