As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desir...

He entered into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him to put out a little from the land. He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. Apple Trees

  • For there is no good tree that brings forth rotten fruit; nor again a rotten tree that brings forth good fruit. For each tree is known by its own fruit. For people don't gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. Luke 6:43 WEB

We find it humorous when we get cut off in traffic by a rude driver, and they have a Christian fish symbol on their bumper. Less humorous is that repairman that will charge you twice what they should have, or take your money and run. They usually put a cross on their card, so you are supposed to forgive them for ripping you off.

In fact, in our life, we have been ripped off more by Christians than anyone else. When I was young, I preferred to do business with people in the church, but now when I see a cross on a business card, I grow concerned. Even recently we hired a 'christian' company do some work for us. They witnessed to us about Jesus the whole time they were here, and invited us to visit their church, but once they got the check, we never saw them again and they wouldn't return our calls. We had to hire someone else to come and finish their job.

What I am trying to say is that our actions speak louder than words. Sometimes we are like an lemon tree that repeatedly shouts, "I AM AN APPLE TREE!", but we never produce any apples, only lemons. Jesus said that you will know a tree by its fruit. If we want to show the world that we are different, it really should be by our actions and not just by an outward appearance. Who you are under pressure, is who you really are. When pressure comes, our mouth always betrays us and reveals what is in our heart.

Jesus said 'A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, just like I have loved you; that you also love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another' (John 13:34).

Small things are big to God, and often the things that we think are big, are small to Him. It is the small things that make the difference in life. Sometimes just a little patience, a smile, or taking a little less for yourself is the difference between producing apples and being barren.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me to produce fruit in my life and guide me into all that You have for me. Forgive me of the things that I do wrong. Have patience with me and help me to have patience with others, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Oh, that my light may continue to shine.

If your walk speaks louder than your talk, you won't have to say anything.

The Bible says in Luke 8:16;  Now no one after lighting a lamp covers it over with a container, or puts it under a bed; but he puts it on a lampstand, so that those who come in may see the light. When believers really come to understand this verse, just maybe we will see a change in their actions. Do not say you are the light unless you are the light!

Sometimes the fruit is not seen in this lifetime. The seed you sow may blossom under someone else. Stay true to you, no matter the result.  Love the Lord your a God with all your heart, your might. Keep working hard Day by day, hour by hour and find joy in the moment and in His presence.

Great message today! This has been one of the biggest lessons in my life. I have been hurt and lied to by "Christians" but I have not been perfect myself. I forgive as I have been forgiven. I tell my daughter all the time "actions speak louder than words." One of my prayers each morning is that my thoughts, speech and actions be pleasing to the Lord.

In Jesus' name, Amen! Thank you so much for this wonderful devotional today, this has always been such a standard of mine, as I learned at a very young age the " Golden rule", to do unto others as you would have done unto you. One thing I always like to keep in mind is if you " talk the talk, you gotta walk the walk. It isn't always easy, but just the other day- we were with our young niece who has really had a tough life already, and we decided to just walk up to people as we were running errands in the store and say " Jesus loves you", despite what their reactions were or what they may think, as we believe in spreading the good word as much as possible, and I happened to see two young boys ridding their bikes behind a store we were pulling into. I just felt the pull of the Lord to yell out to them " JESUS LOVES YOU!!"  and waved and smiled, and we pulled around into the store, and just as we were getting out, they pulled up to us on our bikes. They asked us if we went to a church nearby, and we didn't but we told them the church we went to, and they asked me why I did that. I told them because I love the Lord so much, and because He loves everyone so much, as a Christian it is my job to let everyone know :) he kinda looked down for a minute and then said " well, Jesus doesn't love my Dad so much". My heart just about broke seeing the look on his face. I asked him why he felt that way, and he proceeded to tell me that his Dad had hurt them and ( his mom and his brothers and sister) and wasn't allowed to see them anymore. I then looked at him and told him , " honey, Jesus loves everyone, no matter what they do. God gave us free will ( and made sure he knew what that meant) and that some people make bad choices and do bad things, but God still loves them. I then told him I was very sorry to hear about what had happened to his family, and asked if we could pray together, so all of us held hands in the parking lot of this store and prayed for him and his family, and his Dad, and it was so moving to me I had tears. Truly. He then told me where he lived, and if sometime we could maybe come visit his Mom, and we told him that we would try because I am disabled and we don't live near, but we are defintiely going to do everything we can to go visit him! I truly felt the Lord and Holy Spirit as we prayed, it was like there was an electric connection as we held hands, and the warmth that I truly felt in his young hand, and then his whole demenor changed afterward, he was sprite, smiling, and he and his friend were completely different than they were when we met. I hugged him so tight, and told him to always pray and talk to the Lord whenever he felt down, and sometimes when we listen very carefully, the Lord will talk back to us, and I told him not in words, but in feelings, and that He was always, always with him, and that I loved him as his friend in Christ. I had to take a moment after they rode away because I was crying and thanking the Lord so much, just because that one little thing I just happened to be moved to do by the Lord, and it was ALL the Lord's doing, all of it, so blessed, so so blessed and how amazing is our God!!!! It was truly so beautiful, and what I experienced as a Christian, just by spreading the good word, and by not being afraid to do so, gave me so much peace and also had shown my niece how the Lord works through us if we allow him to. She tends to be a bit shy, but then as we went into the store, she looked at the checkout girl and said "Jesus loves you!" and the girl smiled and said " thank you so much, you just made my day! ". Two miracles happened that day, I feel, and I am sorry so long, but I had to share this because I felt it pertained to your devotional today, boy did we sprout some beautiful fruit on that evening!!!! <3 Much love in Christ to everyone and yours, always <3

Thank you Pastor Dion. Another thought provoking devotional. I agree with you. We must treat all people with love and as we would want to be treated not hide behind a Christian symbol and rip people off.

Heavenly Father, please help me to have patience with others. Have patience with me and forgive me of the things I do wrong. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray.Amen
