Anchor of the Soul from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. When people lose hope, they lie down and die. They lose the will to live and fight any longer. Hopelessness is utter despair, the belief that nothing good will happen. When you begin to think like this, it will bring a desire to die. A ...

The Pharisees and the scribes asked him, "Why don't your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?" They Have Been With Jesus

  • Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus. Acts 4:13 ESV

The disciples of Jesus were mostly uneducated fishermen, but later people lined up in the streets wanting even the shadow of Peter to fall on them (Acts 5:15). There is certainly nothing wrong with an education, but if it turns you away from God, then you would be better off without it. There is a wisdom available that is greater than what man can teach you, and it is gained by spending time with Jesus.

I grew up in the country, on a farm, but learned computer programming by prayer and practice, without books. It was something that I really wanted to do. Anytime that I have ever been stumped, spending some time in prayer reveals the way to fix it. Suddenly I know what the problem is. You can call it inspiration, coincidence, or my imagination. All I know is, I have a problem that I don't know how to fix, I pray about it, and soon I do.

Don't be discouraged if you want to do something, however impossible it may seem. If you have a strong desire for it, and you know that it is what you want to do with your life, take it to the Lord in prayer. He has the answer and can make it happen. Spending time with Jesus will make you smart.

Prayer: Father, please anoint me and reveal the gifts that You have placed in my life. Guide me into the place that I am supposed to be, in the name of Jesus.

Love this!!  Exactly what I have been praying for lately.  And I remember when I was figure skating, having started as an adult, it seemed unlikely that I would be able to be a coach, but I badly wanted to make that my career. The Lord led me to a rink and coaches who encouraged me and the Lord led me into coaching for 12 years. I loved it and miss it now. I loved  how the Lord used me to bring joy to kids and adults lives.  One stands out even years later: after her 12 year old daughter's first competition, her mother told me that she had told her she was happy she was skating, because she used to get depressed but she isn't depressed any more.  Her daughter has a medical condition that caused her to go into puberty at 5 years old, so she looked much older than she was and led her to be teased a lot at school.  Seeing her blossom from from a shy child who barely spoke in our lessons to someone joked with me, laughed asked questions, offered her own suggstions for choreography, and could perform beautifuly in front of an audience is one of my best memories of my coaching career.   <3
