While they were there, the day had come for her to give birth. She gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a feeding trough, because there was no room for them in the inn. Luke 2:6 WEB
With his wife giving birth in a stable and as the strong smell of farm animals permeated the air around them, Joseph had to contemplate his situation. Now I grew up on a farm and I know what the 'fragrances of nature' smells like. It is not a pleasant aroma.
On top of that, people had talked about them and gave 'knowing' looks when they passed by, because Mary had become pregnant before they were completely married. Now she went into labor and they could not even find a room at the inn for her to give birth. The baby Jesus was born into the world through some very humble circumstances. Joseph had to think: 'God would never allow this to happen.'
Humble, Simple, Glorious, that is the way He rolls. God chose such an humble entrance for His precious Son that very few people recognized Him. Thousands of years in the planning, this was God's way of breaking the hold of sin that had held mankind since the first Adam. God so loved us that He gave His only begotten Son to redeem us, to buy us back, to do what we were unable to do.
Few people recognize the Lord when He shows up because they are looking over His head, or right on past Him. As a people we tend to like things that are shiny, powerful, and wealthy. The outcast, the downtrodden black sheep that we ignore, those are the ones that recognized Jesus. The sinners flocked to Him in droves. Let us never become so holy that we cannot recognize God and His heart for the lost.
Prayer: Heavenly Father please let me see the world through Your eyes and feel what You feel. Touch my spirit and heal me. Change my heart and let me never be the same. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

The Bible says in 1Co 1:27 that God uses the foolish things to shame the wise! Haveing Jesus be born in the manner He was had to look foolish to those who thought they had wisdom and a place to stay!
Yesssss!!!! Amen!!!
Whoa!!! What a word!!! Father God, the pride of life can often blind us to what You are doing. Forgive us. Open our spiritual eyes so that we can see You actively at work in the earth. Open our spiritual ears to hear Your voice speaking Your love throughout the earth.
Well said, Stacie <3!
Amen

Thank you for your message today Pastor Dion! It was fitting that Jesus was brought into the World in this way as his life eas spent as God's most humble servant. Which was an example for all of us!
Thank You, Pastor Dion!
Thank you for this wonderful message! Though I have to say, I used to go friend's farm as a teenager and help take care of her horses and llamas. I much prefer the fragrance of a stable to the smells humans give off in a city :P but that's me lol
Amen! Pastors prayer, Heavenly Father please let me see the world through your eyes and feel what you feel. Touch my spirit and heal me. Change my heart and let me never be the same. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray Amen!!
Amen.
God is so wise. Humble beginning to humble the people. Thinking of what still needs humbling in me. Be confident of these very things, that He who began a good work in me shall perform it...not I ...but Him I was reminded one day long ago. To relax in Him and He will do the correcting.
Amen!! Thank you Pastor Dion for your devotion today. :-)
