The greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. Matt 23:11 ESVWhen I showed up at a church work day event, the job that got assigned to me was scrubbing all the bathrooms: upstairs, downstairs, and down the hall. I di...

Do Not Be Dismayed from Refreshing Hope Ministries on Vimeo. Today I want to talk about becoming “Dismayed.” To be dismayed means “to be downcast, disappointed, disheartened, filled with terror.” It replaces hope and will lead you to a dark place. We become ineffective and...

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. James 1:2 WEBMy Dad was born during the great depression in the early 1930s...

Hooked On A Feeling

  • He caused me to pass by them all around: and behold, there were very many in the open valley; and behold, they were very dry. He said to me, 'Son of man, can these bones live?' I answered, 'Lord Yahweh, you know.' Again he said to me, 'Prophesy over these bones, and tell them, 'You dry bones, hear Yahweh's word. The Lord Yahweh says to these bones: 'Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and you will live.' Ezekiel 37:2 WEB

Ezekiel stood in the valley, surrounded by dead, dry bones. What was left of a great army was now scattered about the ground and lying in the dust. All the life was gone and now all that remained were the bones. It was a bleak picture of hopelessness. God told him to prophesy His words over them. Ezekiel had to feel this was a hopeless situation, but he obeyed and when he did, the bones came back to life.

Facts, faith, and feelings, have to line up in that order. Facts are the word of God, which is living and always relevant. Our faith is demonstrated when our mouth and actions line up with the word of God. Finally, our feelings fall into their proper place, at the end of the line and the least important. We can become hooked on feelings of doubt, unbelief, self pity, and fear. Sometimes we have to let those go in order to move on with God. Facts (Word of God) first, faith second, feelings last.

You cannot reverse this list and put your feelings first, then expect to live an overcoming life. If you feel like God does not love you and then begin to act like it, while ignoring what is written in the Word, then you have reversed the list. You cannot measure how much God loves you by your feelings, they will lie to you. We have to stand on what has been written.

Also do not speak your feelings if they are negative, for your own words will be used against you by the enemy. James 3:4 tells us: 'Behold, the ships also, though they are so big and are driven by fierce winds, are yet guided by a very small rudder, wherever the pilot desires. So the tongue is also a little member, and boasts great things. See how a small fire can spread to a large forest!' Be sure to keep your speech positive.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please set a guard over my lips and make me aware of the things that I speak. Help me to keep my feelings in check and to trust You completely. Restore my hope, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Good morning! The Creation Photographers group theme of the week is "Spring Fever", based on Song of Solomon 2:12-13. As always, you are free to post anything else that inspires you, too! ALSO, thank you to the FAAD (Fight Against Anxiety and Depression) members who responded to our chat poll! Based on the feedback, we will be offering a chat meeting on Wednesday at 7:30pm EST. If you are interested in a live meeting with FAAD, and are not a member of the FAAD group, please join for timely announcements about it. Thank you and have a blessed day!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please set a guard over my lips and make me aware of the things that I speak. Help me to keep my feelings in check and to trust You completely. Restore my hope, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen! It is so easy to get caught up in negative speach... it's all around and we are often taught from a young age by others  that might not even realize they roll model such negative talk>> and negative SELF-talk is one of the worst curses!!!!! I fight anxeity and depression so I am one of those negative self-talkers from time to time.... I am much better at noticing & redirecting those feelings before they get the better of me these days (PRAISE GOD) Remembering God is for us and has good plans for us along with positive affirmations have done wonders!! Also looking back and seeing ALL the times God has already delivered me from distress on so many levels and so many ways reminds me I am NEVER alone and he hears EVERY cry, EVERY Prayer, EVERY praise <3 Abba! Father! Thank you for always walking with me and for every time you carry me!! Please take all the worries, all the doubt, all the fear and leave me with all your peace, strong faith in you, and a knowing that you will ALWAYS provide the best ways for us to follow ! Amen!! Thank you Pastor!! God bless <3

I agree. I too fight anxiety and depression, and grew uo in a home where negativity was constantly spoken. It is truly a battle for words - positive words - each day. Glory to God that His Holy Spirit will quicken us... remind us in the moment... of our word choices. And He does it ever so gently and sweetly.

Perfect message for me as I too fight against anxiety. I keep Psalm 56:3 in mind daily. "When I am afraid, I put my trust in You".

Amen, Feelings are just that, they are not realities. Just because we feel a certain way, does not mean our feelings speak truth. We must praise Abba Father in the middle of these negative feelings and not give Satan a foothold in our lives.

I needed this reminder...Facts & faith.  Not feelings first.  I have a lot of feelings due to pain.  I pray this pain shot will help.  If it doesn't this time I pray the Lord leads to the right surgeon for what else is there?  So, I go step by step today ,& do what I can for the back dictates.  Then rest etc.
