But he who is greatest among you will be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. Matthew 23:11 WEB
God is never impressed with the things that we have accomplished. It is by His grace and mercy that we are breathing at all. God is not impressed with how many people attend your church. He placed them there. God is not impressed with your giving. All that you have came from Him. He entrusted you with it to see what you would do, so don't get too impressed with yourself.
The way to greatness in God's eyes is by humbling yourself. Jesus said, 'The least of you will be the greatest' (Luke 9:48). Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it is thinking of yourself less (C.S. Lewis). The Bible is full of promises that are reserved for the humble. For those that put others needs, first. Here are a few of them:
Luke 14:11'For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.'
1 Peter 5:1 'God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time'
James 4:10 'Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.'
Jesus washed the feet of His disciples, when they would not wash His. Though He was the greatest, He acted as the lowest, and He put their needs above His own. We each have our assigned part and the kingdom of God works upside down from the kingdom of man. You may impress God with your humility, obedience, and love, but not with your accomplishments, position, or status.
When you let it go, He will give you back better. When you humble yourself and submit your life to God, He will raise you up. When you give to Him, He will multiply it and give it back. When you take care of others, He will take care of you. It is a circle of life.
Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank You for waking me up today. Help me see the pride in my life, and give me the grace to humble myself before You. Lead me by Your Spirit and help me make the right decisions, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
Amen, Amen!

Amen! The way up in God's kingdom is the way down in this world.
Yesss! While leading worship one morning, I felt the Lord leading me to speak about the "opposite math" of His kingdom. I shared how subtraction (giving away) is truly addition AND multiplication (blessings) in His kingdom, amongst other things. It truly is an opposite mindset; which is why we have to renew our minds daily in Christ Jesus!
Amen Stacie!
I am amazed by the fact that the Creator of the universe, who knows me better than I know myself could still Love me.
it is a true Agape Love.
Thank you Heavenly Father!
Amen!!!!!!!
Amen!
I just read this devotional and it really made me think . . . of my many downfalls and that I am so glad God is here for me, even when I don't do so well. As an example, I went to grocery store to pick up a quick product. There was a lady in a wheelchair, with one foot nearly gone, trying to reach some apples in the back of the pile. I asked if I could help? She needed to squeeze every apple there to see if they were soft enough for her to eat (she was missing teeth). So we squeezed every apple (must be Braeburns) and she picked out 20lbs that would work; then we went to vegetable area, where she picked out organic veggies. I finally told her I needed to get going, but would take the food up to the counter for her. She tells me she has no money and wouldn't get her Welfare until 2 days later. So, I paid for the groceries and paper towels she needed. (Her bus would be there soon.) As I look back, I should have given her the $20, I requested when paying. I am sorry I missed that opportunity but thank God that He put that lady in my life. It was my fault not to finish the task. I'll do better next time. Thank you, Jesus, for teaching me, even tho' I didn't quite make it to the end of the lesson. I always know God is here for me, pushing me forward.
Appreciate yr honesty, Marilyn. Each day we learn more. You are a blessing!
Amen
It is so true the moment we get to prideful in our own abilities God may humble us to bring us back to him and what's really important he did it to me
