He also spoke a parable to them that they must always pray, and not give up, saying, 'There was a judge in a certain city who didn't fear God, and didn't respect man. A widow was in that city, and she often came to him, saying, 'Defend me from my adversary!' He wouldn't for a while, but afterward he said to himself, 'Though I neither fear God, nor respect man, yet because this widow bothers me, I will defend her, or else she will wear me out by her continual coming.' ' Luke 18:1 WEB
The widow in the story kept going to the judge with her problem, even though he had refused to help her. She came back again and again and again, until the judge gave her what she asked of him. She really wanted it. She was persistent.
In Mark 7:27, there was a woman who asked Jesus for help with her daughter. Jesus refused at first, saying that it was not right to take the children's bread and to throw it to the dogs. It wasn't time for the gentiles yet. She persisted and said that even the dogs eat the crumbs under the table. Impressed by her determination and humility, Jesus did what she asked.
There are times when you have to really want it. You have to come to God in prayer over, and over, and over, until you get the answer. In 1Kings 18:43, Elijah went back and prayed for rain seven times before the small cloud rose out of the sea. In Matthew 26:44 on the night of His betrayal, Jesus went back and prayed the same words three times. He tells us that we are to pray always and not lose heart (Luke 18:1).
There is a battle going on and you are in it, even if you choose not to be. Ignorance will not protect you from it. Keep on praying, keep on seeking, keep on knocking, and the door will be opened. Sometimes you have to pray it in, and you have got to really want it. Don't give up just because you don't see it yet. Elijah would have never gotten his rain if he had stopped after the first prayer. He continued praying until he saw it manifest.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You so much for all that You have done in my life. Please give me encouragement today, strength, wisdom, and lead me into all that You have for me here. Help me to know the times and the seasons, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Amen!!! Well, you learn something new everyday! I don't remember the first story in the bible. Thank you Pastor! Sometimes we think we know it all but have to be reminded to stay in the Word and keep it on the tablets of our hearts. <3
Amen!Persistence in prayer leads to breakthrough.
On the Cross Jesus said " I thirst", He paid the price so that you would never go thirsty! Drink from the Living Water. Fast and pray. Seek Him early. John 14:13 "And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son."
Thank you for sendind this to day i needed a reminder to pray everyday and every time I could think of a problem I need to pray about it thank you or your help and your prayers and thank you Jesus for being there for me all the time
Amen!!! And for all of the times where certain believers wanted to argue with me that we should only pray once about a matter, and that praying more than once meant that I lacked faith, I refer them to this devotion. I have explained this exact parable of the unjust judge, but to no avail. I pray that the Lord would open their eyes of understanding. And, Father God, I am humbled that You desire for us to press through, repeat our petitions, and to spend time in prayer with you. What an awesome privilege to carry everything to You in prayer!
Amen! Thank u pastor Dion
Thank you Pastor Dion for another thought provoking devotional. Persistence is the key.. Never give up, keep praying...keep seeking and keep knocking and the door will be opened... Amen...
Another great devotional, Pastor Dion, thank you. But, it brings to mind some questions like what if you were praying for the wrong thing or for the wrong thing to take place at a certain time? What if your prayers were for the wrong reasons? What if God had other plans? What if God was protecting you from yourself? What if a "No" or a "Not yet" were the best possible answers?
Amen! Pastors prayer, Heavenly father, I thank you so much for all that you have done in my life. Please give me encouragement today, strength, wisdom, lead me to all that you have for me here. Help me to know the times and the seasons, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray Amen!!
Such an important point. Never give up or lose heart. It seems that God takes a long time to answer some of our prayers, but He hears all of our prayers and answers each of them in the perfect way and at the perfect time.
Aman pastor thank you for the devotional it was very uplifting and motivating!
