David said, 'Yahweh who delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine.' Saul said to David, 'Go! Yahweh will be with you.' 1 Samuel 17:37 WEB
Young David was probably around fifteen years old and was now facing the greatest challenge of his life. Goliath. He was a real giant of a man that was just over nine feet tall and caused the army Israel to cower in fear. David's three brothers served in the army under King Saul and one day David brought them some supplies.
While David was there, he heard Goliath come out and taunt Israel. He asked some men about the giant but his brother Eliab railed at him and told him to go back home to the 'few' sheep that he took care of. David's faith was not shaken by criticism so he turned and asked someone else about the giant.
After he learned what was going on, David said: 'I'll fight him.' This was not the first time that David had to rely on God's help to survive. He recalled the times that His God had delivered him out of bad circumstances. He remembered that God had already delivered him from the paw of the lion, and from the paw of the bear and that this giant was only bigger. When David stepped out, the same God that had delivered Him in the past, delivered him once again. That was faith in action.
When you are faced with an impossible circumstance, remember the times when God has come through for you. Don't let fear and worry hold you back from what He has. Fear guards the treasure house door, and you have to face it to get what is inside. Remember when God took care of you for He will do it again.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please strengthen me and bring those things that You have done for me back to my remembrance. Put the right people around me and build up my faith, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
Good Morning~~ Remember-you've been walking the walk, you should have many of these stories under your belt! Stand on these victories and keep going! Me---
Amen, Mike, that's true!

Question, I am facing an option in the ministry, and I am not sure how to proceed. I have heard you say that the doors were all closed for you untill God showed you the time was right. I am so tired of making the mistake of trying things my way. How then does one know when to step out in faith? David seemed to know!
Jim, I think each of us are different. With me, He firmly shut every door into ministry or even speaking anywhere for 20 years. People would ask me to speak, then cancel it. Finally I just gave up. Then when He opened the door, it was like cattle being run through a loading chute, there was no other option. I prefer it that way because it leaves little room for doubt... but we have also seen where He told us to leave, but did not close the door, just told us. Then nothing happened until we acted on it. Summary: If you feel this is what He is telling you, then go with it. If you cannot hear, then fast for a while. It usually works for me.
Thanks Dion, I am not sure, and I have made so many mistakes in the past. It seems every time I think I understand, something happens to say you are wrong again. I do not want to go around that mountian again so I guess a fast is in my future. Please keep us in your prayers, I have never fasted before, but I do understand the consept. I know that God has a plan, I just wish He would talk a little louder!
Jim, are you sure they were all mistakes? I know that you are a serious praying man (and of course Joanne is an amazing woman of God) and I'd be kind of surprised if you have done so many things during the time you have been serving Him that were so wrong. We have found that many of the times where things have gone negatively have just been part of the path that led us to the next thing, or at least a great lesson :)! And yes, fasting is also very helpfu, and you should do that :)
Amen

To remember...fear guards the treasure house door. Thanks!!
Thinking on putting the right people around me(us). My husband said, let's pray and see if the Lord shows us fellowship to be among. If not in our church then where Lord? Our church is very mission minded in many areas. Preaching is good. We see people we know. My husband's trucking job leaves very little time to do this. We are in church or online if I'm physically dealing. He goes some then without me. Also possible Sat afternoon once a mo maybe more because our Grandboy can come then etc. We read scripture together and pray. He studies when away & I here when he's away. God can do anything and has done many things. Well reading having people around such as Christians is a sprinkle in a close sense. In Your Name, Lord, I utter these things.
