Don't be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that will he also reap. For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption. But he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don't give up. Galatians 6:6 WEB
As I fell through the air from the top of the building in seemingly slow-motion, my Dad's words came back to mind. He had just warned me to watch my balance and to not get too close to the edge because we were working several floors up in the air, but I was young and indestructible at the time.
We were constructing a three story office building and setting the rafters in place on top of the walls, when I lost my balance and fell over the side. Gravity took over and I had no more control over the situation. Thank God I landed in a huge sand pile that the brick masons had placed there and I did not get a scratch. Next to where I landed were tall stakes sticking out of the ground that could have killed me.
Many times in life we are near a dangerous situation and God warns us to stay balanced and stay avoid the fringes. Still, we go our own way because after all, we know what is really best for us. When we forego all of the warnings, go over the edge and start our descent down, we finally crash. At this point we sometimes accuse God of hitting us with the sidewalk, when actually it was our idea and what we wanted. When we break natural laws and reap the consequences, He is not to blame. We reap just what we sow.
Being a Christian does not make you exempt from reaping your harvest. The seeds that you continue to sow in your life will eventually take root and grow. That is why Jesus said to 'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you' (Luke 6:31). Too many times we have dealt with Christians that would take advantage of us using the 'You have to forgive them' attitude to cover the plain fact of them ripping us off.
Stay away from the edges. The Old Testament plagues always seemed to start on the fringes of the camp and never in the Holy of Holies where God's presence resided. Try and stay balanced, centered, grounded, and keep in mind that tomorrow we will reap what we have sown today. If the sidewalk has hit you in the face, don't blame God for it. Just get back up and dust yourself off. The next time we will be more careful and listen to that still, small voice inside that warns us.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray that you protect me from getting out of balance and help me press deeper into Your presence. Draw my heart to seek Your face and consume that which holds me back, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
Note: Good morning! For those who did not receive the email, the recorded version of this Sunday''s message is now available. Just go to the Watch page to view all previous messages. ALSO, the highlighted group of the week is "Through My Eyes", a private (all are invited, but only group members see the posts) journaling group created to see and share where Jesus is in our daily life. The focus will be on a once a day, week, month sharing of everyday experiences with Jesus. FINALLY, the Creation Photographers group fun theme of the week is "Reminiscing Days Gone By", based on John 14:26. As always, feel free to post other photos, too!

Amen. Thank you Father in Heaven for always guiding my footsteps; when I stray off the path, you gently nudge be back onto the path and all is good again. Without your guidance Lord, I would be lost and that is something I do not want to every happen; so as I get up each day, I thank you for your kindness, compassion, patience and much Love; without you Lord, none of this matters!
We are forgiven for our sins when we repent, but the pain of what we reap from what we sow, is more than we know and lasts longer than we know. Such a good reminder to stay away from the "edges" that lead to a fall. Would save so much pain in the end.We may be forgiven by God but the repercussions of our fall can sometimes be lifelong and painful....
Amen!
Amen we need to continually keep our focus on Jesus and trust Him to keep us from stumbling. If we take our eyes off of Him and try to walk alone in this broken world, we soon tumble down.
Amen, sure we will reap whatever we sow
