One of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, testing him. 'Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?' Jesus said to him, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. A second likewise is...

Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying, 'How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, that murmur against me? My Greatest Fear

  • For the thing which I fear comes on me, That which I am afraid of comes to me. Job 3:25 WEB

As we worked to get the fish hook free of my eye lid, an actual calmness came over me. The greatest fear of my life was now behind me. I grew up on the rivers of South Carolina fishing and I always got nervous when people began swinging their fishing lines around. I dreaded the thought of them snagging me with their hook, much less my eye.

One day while out on my boat with some friends, there was this older lady that was a guest of someone else that must have thought that she either fly fishing, or lassoing the fish. She was whipping the line around her, oblivious to everyone else in the boat.

I was sitting behind her and eventually, as my fear would have it, she snagged my eyelid with her fish hook, and then swung to make a long cast. I grabbed the line in my hands, stopped her, and for a moment the thought of wrapping her in the anchor rope and sinking her right there came to my mind, but I managed to push it away.

My Dad was there and he came to help remove the fish hook from my eyelid. It turns out that my greatest fear, was not all that bad. From as far back as I could remember I had dreaded the thought of having a fish hook snag my eye, and now it had happened and was over. I have been there and done that.

Fear is faith in reverse and draws, even causes, your greatest fears to actually come to pass like a magnet. Job had a fear that something would happen to his children and constantly sacrificed for them. It still happened. I had always had a fear that a fishhook would catch me in the eye, and it did.

Your greatest fear will not be as bad as you think, and your heavenly Father will be help you through it. Look to God, pray, and do not become immobilized by fear. The more that you focus on the fear, the more power that you give it. God did not give us a spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7). Also, be careful of who you let in your boat.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray that You will deliver me from fear. Take away the panic, the anxiety, and the fear that is within me and replace it with Your peace. Help me see You clearly and understand that You are truly stronger than all. When You are for me, who can stand against me? In the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Good morning! Amen! Many times what we fear never comes to pass or if it does it is much less than we anticipated. Embracing our Abba Father as we walk through fear brings peace in the midst of our daily storms.

Amen!! Thank you Pastor Dion for todays devotion. <3  I claim your prayer over me in Jesus, name. Amen! Todays devoton reminds me of me.   My mother and her sister and niece had small cabins on the rive and we would fish all the time. I had a fear of fishing hooks and rattle snakes are any snakes. I know black snakes can't hurty you but didn't like snakes. I still don't care for snakes. I never got caught by a fishing hook but my uncle lost the anchor in the water and we could not find it. It was maybe a year are two later we was fishing. I yelled Uncle Hub help I caught a really big fish and I can reel it in so he came to help. He was tugging and pulling. He said I thing you are snagged on something. He said no it's moving here we took the boat closer. My uncle got out and was pulling he went down to pull it closer. Well guess what I caught the anchor that Uncle Hub lost in the water a year or two before that. That was some fish and I was laughing all day long I told Uncle he had to pay me for my fish. We had a lot of laughs around the bonfire that week. <3 Besides that I have many fears since many things happen since 2010. I've really beed threw a lot and I tell God please help me I hate fear, anxiety. depression and pain. So i'll keep praying for God to keep holdig onto me until we cross the finish line. Amen.

Amen and Amen. <3

Read this again.  Soo incredible to think on you with the hook.  Things happen...thank you, Lord you are there!  Last night Charlie walked our Bassettes.  A lady came out her front door with recycle bin for pick up this morning & out flew her pitbull.  Adrenaline raging.  Tore into our white Bassette Sadie Jane.  Charlie or her could not get pitbull off.  From that side to other side of street the fight went.  Whatever not sure she got the dog into the house.  There is a piece attached to both leashes keeping Bassettes from walking different directions.  Puppy Zoey was pulled around.  Charlie didn't know what to do.  Sadie Jane came home bleeding with holes & incisor marks too.  Short straight lines.  All puncturing flesh.  Charlie had to leave for work.  I cleaned blood best I could do.  Talked to police because need shot records.  See vet at 1 to make sure of no infection.  There are other pitbulls here.  Nice neighborhood.  One pitbull sits near gate people don't pay attention.  Gate is opened often.  Yes, Lord, we live in a crazy world.  Bless this owner to process her next move. Amen.
