For it is precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little. Isaiah 28:10 WEB.We had scattered pieces all over the table while we worked on assembling a jigsaw puzzle. It was a total mess. This one was mysteriously difficult, for someone had mistakenly...

In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are ...

Everlasting Love

  • Yahweh appeared of old to me, saying, Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn you. Jeremiah 31:3 WEB

So many times in my life, I have felt that I let God down, failed Him, and then stopped even trying. "What was the use", I thought. I was a failure and He was disappointed in me anyway. Like a puppy with his tail between his legs, I would sulk and walk away. Sometimes a month would go by before I even spoke to Him again.

When I finally came to my senses, saw the light, and had a 'I was blind, but now I see' moment, He was always there waiting with open arms. Just as the prodigal son that came to his senses and went back home to his father, so was I. The moment that I changed my attitude, accepted that the past was unchangeable, He was ready to get back to work. It was always an 'OK, now let's go' moment.

God is not concerned about our past. He is concerned with what is left of our future and making every moment count. Our life here is only a brief moment in time and if we really understood that, most of us would live it differently. We try and build things here that will last forever, when everything around us is temporary.

He draws us to Himself with loving kindness and His love for us is everlasting. Nothing that you can do or have done will change His love for you. On the other hand, can you discipline a child and still love them? Absolutely. Jesus said, 'Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.' (Revelation 3:19). Paul wrote that God's kindness is intended to lead you to repentance (Romans 2:4).

Our past life may have some dark spots, but He will never turn away from us. He will always love us and when we ask, He will gladly forgive us and restore us, for His love is everlasting. He has a plan and a purpose for your life and you were put here for such a time as this, so make it count.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your everlasting love. Thank You for accepting me just as I am and washing me as white as snow. Cleanse me, use me, guide me today, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

All I can do is cry... That first paragraph... My life's struggle... No words except, "Thank you, Pastor Dion." And, "Thank You, Lord!"

Amen! We must move forward in our faith, not looking back.

Philippians 3:13

Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,
Luke 9:62

Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”
Genesis 19:26

But Lot's wife, behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.
Isaiah 43:18-19

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

Luke 9:59-61
To another he said, “Follow me.” But he said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” And Jesus said to him, “Leave the dead to bury their own dead. But as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” Yet another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but let me first say farewell to those at my home.”

None of us can change the past, but we can try harder in the future. That is what I try and do, learn from past mistakes. Either way, He is there for us if we will just turn to Him when we come to our senses.  :)

For me, this is a thought provoking devotion. Sometimes, in dealing with my cancer, THIS life feels like the eternal one. Thanks for the reminder that there are far greater things ahead.
