Focus Lost

  • Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth. Psalms 46:10 WEB

Another busy day with so much to do, and so many bills, the pressure and anxiety kept me up most of the night. It seemed like I spent most of my time these days trying to solve tomorrow's problems before they got here, and don't even get me started on the news. On top of that, I felt tired all the time from stress, worry, and lack of sleep.

With all of this going on, I really did not have time to pray or read my Bible much. I wanted to, it just got squeezed out of the day by one important thing after another by living a life of emergencies. Jesus said: 'What was sown among the thorns, this is he who hears the word, but the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful' (Matthew 13:22).

We spend our health trying to obtain wealth, then spend the wealth trying to obtain health. When I did slow down and pray for a while, the Lord said "Why not let me be God for a while?" I guess in my hustle and bustle that I had replaced Him as the center of my life. Once again, I had lost my focus. He was no longer the God of my life, either I was, or my problems, depending on what day it was.

Put God first in your life, talk to Him, inquire of Him when making decisions, invite Him to be a part of your day, and then the other things will fall into place automatically. Jesus said: 'But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well' (Matthew 6:33). When you do lose yourself in the Lord, He will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4).

Let God be God for a while today and stop trying to be Him. He can carry much more than you can. He can handle the pressure. He can see what is coming and prepare you for it. Sometimes we just need to be still and let God, be the God of our life.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please send the Comforter to me today, teach me about You, guide my steps and help me make the right decisions. I want You to be the focus of my life. You are my God. I choose You. Please give me the grace to make it so, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Note: Good morning! The group of the week is "Keep It Simple Crafts": This group is about the joy of creating beautiful, yet simple, projects for your home, as gifts or just for fun! Crafts that can be created with little-to-no skill are encouraged here. This is a great time a year to look into this group, as we move into the holiday season :). You can find this and all the other groups from the Groups listing on the site menu. Come on over and join the fun!

Dear Father in Heaven, this week is going to be extremely stressful and hectic.  I am praying for peace, calm and serenity; I know I tend to over think many things and worry far too much.  Please help me to know that you alway have my back and you are always with me!  Thank you for the love and compassion you show me everyday and thank you for the gift of your most precious son Jesus, without him in my life, I would be lost.  Amen!!

Great Devotion for today!  Very wise advice to heed at any age!  Wish I'd read this 40 years ago (but I wouldn't have read it more than likely and for sure wouldn't have heeded it).  God is an on-time God!  We can't look back with regrets...for that is a waste of time too. Yes, begin TODAY, right now, taking time and making time for God, putting Him first, and working our schedule around Him instead of working Him around our schedule. He is our Helper in all areas of our lives!  We need Him. Invite Him TODAY!

Lord, thank You for this word and for the timing of it. With court today, financial concerns, and so many other things on my mind/heart, it can be easy to be distracted. Please forgive me. Please take control. Have Your way! Handle it all in the loving, gentle way that You always do! Perfect everything that concerns me, and do exceedingly and abundantly above all I can ask, think, or imagine! Then I will know that my way will be prosperous, and that I have a hope and a future in You. I look forward to seeing Your mighty hand at work in the everyday details of my life. I love You. I honor You. Amen.

Abba Father I bring all the RHM members before You that are facing trails and storms in their lives. Father I pray that You send the Comforter to them and give them Your bountiful peace, "shalom", that passes all understanding. I ask that You enable them to fully surrender their burdens to You and completely submit to Your divine will in their lives. Let them feel Your abundant love and compassion, let them lean fully upon Your word, for You alone Almighty God are our Rock, Fortress and our Deliverer

Psalm 18:2
2 The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
Bless them Almight Father renew their strength and raise them up on wings like eagles to soar!

In Your precious Son's name in my Wonderful Counselor's name, in the Prince of Peace's name, in the name of Jesus,( the Savior of the World), I ask these things amen.
