Yahweh said to Joshua, "Get up! Why have you fallen on your face like that?" Joshua 7:10 WEB.Joshua lay prostrate before the ark of the Lord all that evening. Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, "Don't fight with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel." When the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, "It is the king of Israel!" Therefore they turned around to fight against him. But Jehoshap...

Just as I Am

  • The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Abraham was the father of Isaac, and Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers, and Judah the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar, and Perez the father of Hezron, and Hezron the father of Ram, and Ram the father of Amminadab, and Amminadab the father of Nahshon, and Nahshon the father of Salmon, and Salmon the father of Boaz by Rahab, and Boaz the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse, and Jesse the father of David the king. And David was the father of Solomon by the wife of Uriah Matt. 1:1-6 ESV

Adulterers, former prostitutes, some born from incest, fathers that slept with their daughter-in-law, the genealogy of Jesus amazes me. If I were God, I would have probably made so many changes in the first paragraph alone. Tamar was Judah’s daughter-in-law (Gen 38:16). Rahab was a former prostitute (Josh 2:1). Ruth was a Moabite which means that she came from incest between Lot and his own daughter while he was drunk (Gen 19:36). Solomon was born from David and Bathsheba, after David had her husband Uriah killed and took her as his own wife (2Sam. 12:24).

All these people had problems, yet God chose them to be in the lineage of the Lord Jesus. Their lives were successful because there is forgiveness when we make mistakes. His grace is sufficient. Your problems will not stop God from using you, only you can do that. The things that you do not want to talk about, He already knows about.

He wants to use you right now, just as you are, yet we often resist and say that we are not worthy and will not let Him. Life is not all about your faults and frailty. Stop looking at your own weaknesses and believe that if God calls you to do something, He will also equip you to do it.

kylie dempsey Lol!!!!! Your message is an eye opener today pastor Dion:-D I think some of the ultra religious need to remember the lineage of Jesus...it's twists and turns.....dark and light. Because in the end we are precious in His eyes...and if we let Him....gosh...look where He can take us!!! I take delight that He can use the brokeness of our humanity...gives me a sense of being loved and accepted :-D

Ken Money
Ken Money Very good Word this morning as we go through Lent!  A very humbling thing to realize that we are all sons and daughters of God so a part of this lineage!  We can see others the way Jesus sees them.  And if we can surrender to Him, He will let us be a Light to all those in a dark place!  Praise Him for making us His sons and daughters!!!

Cathy Webb
Cathy Webb Thanks, Todd, for the reminder that God's ways and thoughts are nothing like ours here on earth -- our judgemental, skewed views about who is valuable and important and who is not.  Praise God for his perfect plan and willingness to redeem us despite our twisted, inept efforts. Keep up the excellent work of encouragement!

Daryl Page
Daryl Page Years ago when I was working as a youth pastor I knew thru Gods grace I'd overcome remarkable things yet I knew I had other things I'd not overcome (I was forgiven n delivered I just hadn't realised yet). These things I was dealing with made me question if I was worthy to continue to be used much less speak for The Lord. I talked to a pastor friend of mine about my feelings and this was his words of wisdom. None of us are perfect yet by the redeeming blood of the Lamb I was seen not as a failure but rather a child of God saved by grace to do Watever He called me too or showed me. Secondly our actions can't change the fact that the gospel thru the Holy Spirit will accomish what it's meant to do ( my word will not return void) Uf getting Gods message outdepended upon me being perfect sin free ( mind spirit soul heart thought) then yes the word would loose its convicting n convincing power but it isn't me its God. The messenger may have some issues but the word of God will always stand on its own power. So I continue to allow the Lord to work on me but never worry bout weather I should speak the words He is giving me to say at anytime or to any person. Thank you Lord for using these lips of clay to speak your word. May God Bless anyone reading this N my prayer is go boldly out n do n say whatever The Lord is telling you to do. One Love. LOG.
