Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, "Don't fight with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel." Living Right When Wronged

  • Saul sought to pin David to the wall with the spear; but he slipped away out of Saul's presence, and he stuck the spear into the wall. David fled, and escaped that night. 1 Samuel 19:10 WEB

King Saul was jealous of his son-in-law David. Completely consumed by rage, he attempted to murder David with a spear. David evaded him and left the city. Saul became an evil man, and though he refused to kill all the Amalekites when the Lord asked him to (1Samuel 15:9), he was fine with completely wiping out the Lord's priests, their families and their livestock (1Samuel 22:19).

Once when David literally caught Saul with his trousers down, the men with him in the cave were excited and thought this was a gift from God, but David spared him (1Samuel 24:4). Another time David and Abishai crept up on Saul while he was sleeping and took his spear. Abishai wanted to finish the job and pin Saul to the ground, saying, 'I will not have to strike him twice' (1Samuel 26:8).

Time after time, David was given the opportunity to kill Saul, but he refrained. David was a better man and because of the calling on his life, would not stoop to Saul's level. David had killed thousands of men in battle, including Goliath. He was certainly not afraid of Saul. David wanted to do the right thing. He wanted to please God and would not harm the one that God had anointed. He just waited, and the day came when God made it right. Then David became the king.

Don't stoop to your enemies' level. Because of the calling on your life, you need to take the high ground. In time, God will make it right. Two wrongs will never equal right, but right will always be right. God sees the things that you are going through and He has an amazing memory. God's delay is not His denial.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for waking me up this day. Please give me the grace to overcome, the wisdom to make the right decisions, and the strength to stand strong when all the winds blow against me. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Amen Pastor Dion. I firmly believe in not seeking vegence against our enemies. Even when it is so very hard we must pray for our enemies and the ones who persecute us. We must leave them to God for Him to wage justice against. We must not be concerned with when God does this or how He does this. We must not take joy in His retribution toward them. Our repsonsibility is to let God be God and just be about our own business. We need to be concerned only with working out our own salvation with trembling and fear. We can claim the victory that God will give us peace with our enemies if we just pray for them. Many times in my life I have seen God do this. When an unbeliever or even a Christian came against me, I prayed and God changed their heart toward me or my family. I did nothing in retaliation, except pray!

I am always amazed when I read this scripture. One because of how stealthy David and his men were. Like a cat and mouse game. And two because David didn't take the opportunity to eliminate the the threat. Amazing strength indeed. I wonder if Saul in return did the same for the men that were suppose to be watching over him? Thank Pastor Todd for the inspiring devotional this morning.

How did Saul fall from the grace and blessing of God? I know he sinned and it seems he was not forgiven. David sinned to but was forgiven.  Why did Gid have mercy on David and not Saul?

“For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” (John 1:17 ESV)

As far as I know, Saul never repented but just kept going down the wrong road. He was soon killing God's priests (1Sam. 22:21). When God became silent, Saul consulted the witch of En-dor (1Sam. 28:7). David always repented...

Oh my goodness. I knew that was the answer!! It came to at church this morning.God must have given me the answer. It was David that asked to be forgiven. wasn't he the one that write the psalm about in your mercy blot out my offenses?  I had a moment of insight at church and I wanted to cry. I have so much to be forgiven for! I have wept and asked God to forgive and he always does. If we are forgiven than we to can forgive. I knew the reason was that Saul lacked humility to say. I'm sorry. David did not.

Heavenly Father, I thank You for waking me up this day. Please give me the grace to overcome, the wisdom to make the right decisions, and the strength to stand strong when all the winds blow against me. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen

I have been so challenged as I "stand still" and wait on God to aid me, there is little food in my refrigerator andnomoney in my pockets, YET, but there is a God in heaven who loves me and aids and keeps me. Fasting and prayer is the order of the day. Great message this morning! Yerushalayim, Amen.

Then rise my soul! and soar away, Above the thoughtless crowd; Above the pleasures of the gay, And splendours of the proud; Up where eternal beauties bloom, And pleasures all divine; Where wealth, that never can consume, And endless glories shine.  ~ Author unknown

I thank you for this word as I as well as others may be going to through this trial as others come against us to be vindictive and horrifible cruel.  They know not what they have done (or maybe they do & are waiting for you to crack), but we can stand strong knowing that our God see's all and Does Not forget. I pray for other's as well as myself to still stand, turn it over to God and Breathe.  This is very difficult for me as I have a destructive personality but mostly to myself in the past and I do Not want to go there as it is like a relaspe to some degree.  The pain from these unjustifiable actions from others can be overwhelming at times and I just pray for comfort and peace as we wait on the Lord in humility! Amen
