Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and don't do the things which I say? Everyone who comes to me, and hears my words, and does them, I will show you who he is like. He is like a man building a house, who dug and went deep, and laid a foundation on the rock. When a flood arose, the stream broke agains...

You are of your Father, the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and doesn't stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own; for he is a liar, and the father of it. John 8:44 WEB.We had been out ...

But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today exists, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, won't he much more clothe you, you of little faith? Therefore don't be anxious, saying, 'What will we eat?', 'What will we drink?' or, 'With what will we be clothed?' For the Gentiles seek after a...

"HE SAID 'WHAT'?"

  • The 9th Beatitude caused the Ears of every Pharisee, Sadducee, Levite, and Priest ... to Perk UP! I am absolutely sure that people were hurriedly asking in response: "What did he say?" ... or ... "Did I hear him right?" ... and ... "Does 'he' understand what he just said?"

The Sermon on the Mount was the First Introduction that Jesus gives of Himself to a vast multitude. Many, if not most, were from Galilee, Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and from beyond Jordan.

Jesus had begun preaching 'Repent for the kingdom of Heaven is at hand', immediately after John the Baptist was placed into prison.

His message of Repentance continued the message of John and THEN Jesus began to heal all manner of sickness and disease among the people. In fact ... His 'fame' was spread all throughout Syria and because of this 'they brought to Him people that were sick with every kind of disease and torment.'

They also brought those who were possessed with demons and those who were lunatic and even those who were paralyzed ... and He healed them all.

And then the Crowds followed hard after Him. And when He saw the multitudes He went up into a Mountain and sat down. Then His disciples came to Him and He began to teach them.

Out of His mouth began to flow an encouraging and authoritative message. The First Eight Beatitudes were 'eye-openers' ... but it was the 9th that opened EARS and dropped many jaws.

"Blessed (Happy) are you ... when men will revile you, and persecute you ... and say all manner of evil against you falsely ... "

IF Jesus had ended this 'beatitude' right there at 'falsely' no one would have said anything at all. But He did not. He added Three Words that ignited a spark that would lead to a raging fire in many hearts and minds. This was the kind of fire that burns until it destroys everything ...

He added; "FOR 'MY' SAKE." Which meant that He WAS 'Somebody' - Special.

WE must understand that this was His FIRST Introduction to the vast majority of Israel and those other nations that gathered for this conference.

He gained the attention, especially of the Masters of the Law with those Three Words. From here on out ... they would listen Attentively to every word down to the smallest syllable. And anything that was spoken that pointed to Him as being 'Someone Special' would be brought back for late night discussions.

We must not take this Sermon for Granted. Jesus was talking to Real People just like you and I. And each word came with a price.

The Sermon on the Mount is about 4 Persons. You ...I (Jesus) ...'They' or 'Them' ...Your Heavenly Father ...You don't want to be one of the 'Them'.

Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. KJV
