Jeremiah 29:13

Jeremiah 29:13- " You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart." I have a question about that verse. What does it mean to seek the Lord "with all your heart"? I have long struggled with this and still have no idea of what it means. Does it mean to earnestly read His word and try to find Him among the pages? Does it mean to research and study religion? How exactly does one do that? And, once you find Him, what happens then?

I think an adequate analogy might be casual dating vs. the commitment of marriage. God does not share much of what He is with a person who is only interested in using Him as a spare tire to get into heaven. Likewise, at least for me, I would not be pouring out much about me to a person who did not have any commitment into the relationship. I believe that is an attitude of the heart, but also in action of how much a person is commiting to what they know of Him.

Like many things, I believe what He is telling us is less complicated than we make it out to be :)
